What we need against the Carolina Panthers

We desperately need for the defense to step up and stop the run this week.
We desperately need for the secondary to make plays on the ball.
We desperately need to get pressure on Jake on 3rd and long.

It is even more important for the OL to open some holes and give JJ & MBIII some running room.

It is even more important for Romo to protect the ball in the first half especially so the team doesn't go into the "ohoh, here we go again" mode.

I have faith in Romo protecting the ball out of necessity for at least a half, even if it means he throws it away when he might have had a shot at a completion.

However, I have very little faith in our defense holding the Panthers to 14-17 points, which is what it will take for us to win the game, imo. I am truly disapppointed in our defense and the coaching.

What really are our odds of getting it together and beating Carolina on the road this Sunday? I think our chances are very very slim, but that's why they play the games.

I am going to the game. Dallas will win. I have never seen Dallas lose in person. I am 3-0 in fact.

Seriously, I think Dallas is better than Carolina and the home crowd is not too tough there. Last year, there were lots of Dallas fans there. There were letters to the newspaper after the game complaining about so many Panther fans giving their tickets to Dallas fans.

I am in Charlotte as well, and the Panther fans are feeling about as confident as we are....Not very. They are one of 3 teams that have allowed more points than they have scored and yet have a winning record. They don't tend to blow anyone out so every game is close. Therefore the other team always has a chance. They have had some corner issues. Lucas is hurting, and Gamble all of a sudden can't cover anyone. Minter is very similar to Roy in that he will drill you....Problem is that it is usually 30 yards down the field after you have already cought the ball! Whitten should be open, and one thing I noticed when Romo came in was that all of a sudden Whitten showed up again. Doubt Foster can run against us. We should dominate their o line as they have a Cardinal's castoff at LT. They will get their shots downfield, and when they do we have to stop them. Drew Carter has emerged as a real threat downfield for them. Watkins scares me to death with 89. I would guess 89 will haev a chip on his shoulder after last year.

Gotta figure that the run game will be more emphasized this week. JJ will be a marked man by the Carolina D after what he did to them last year. That might work out well if we do play action good enough. the flea flicker as well- assuming that this time Witten can make a block.

Carolina isn't unbeatable. We went in to carolina last year at beat them physically. Carolina CAN be run on, and jake delhomme can be forced into mistakes. I like our chances sunday night. This team will have any extra bounce in its step, bank on it.

go cowboys!!!

As one should I have butterflies with a young QB starting the game but I will say I am more confident w/Tony than I would be w/ Drew.

The D has looked very good at times but we still have the same problems we had a year ago....stopping the run, giving up the big play, and the lack of a pass rush. Needless to say I am very disappointed with this side of the ball.

Ware of course dominated last year, and they have a free agent that the sorry o line Cardinals cut this year. We haev to get Jake throwing off his back foot because he WILL chuck it up for grabs. The play that bothers me, and has been the most successful for the Panthers this year is that back shoulder pass to 89. You know where the QB throws it short intentionally, and only the receiver knows it. They haev been doing that with Smith and Key all year. By far their most successful play!

Newman did own Smith last year and was locked up with him all game. Hope that Zimmer and crew remember that that worked and loose the Cover 2 schemes.

but that was for only 2 quarters. im sure we will have to deal with him the whole game this time. he probably won't throw another tantrum this time;)

Tell you what, I'd practice from the ShotGun this week. I'd practice streaks all day long. I'd definatly practice Blitz Pick Up with the backs and I'd probably draw up some plays to move Romo around. The difference between this defense, and the one we faced last week is that this front four can run you down. The Giants, not so much. Defensively, I like the way we match up against the WRs. I like Henry on Key and I like Newman on Smith. I don't like Roy on anybody but hey, that's the breaks.

These guys do not run the ball well. There like 25th in the league. I think our base front seven should be able to be effective against them. That should mean that Roy can really focus on coverage support.

I got a good feeling about this game.

Newman handled Smith last year. He was blanketed for the most part. It was a well fought even game and Dallas pulled it out. Julius Jones had some great runs. I think Dallas matches up well with Carolina.
