We play our safety way too deep. This is supposed to be part of our bend but don't break scheme, but its gashing us big time, and is exactly how we got beat against the Giants. They put stuff underneath the safeties, and they got space to run after the catch.
We also don't play well in the flats because we're playing so far off the offense.
Our linebackers are never in positions to make plays against receiving tight ends or running backs.
When was the last time you saw a linebacker interception that wasn't off of deflected pass?
I believe that is because our linebackers seem like they are always in a zone scheme, and aren't exceptionally good at it.
On offense, the passing game is starting to look really good. We're funneling the offense through Jason Witten, and its working. We're getting production out of Roy Williams in the Redzone. He had two touchdowns, but could have just as easily had three. We're finally punishing teams for putting too much focus on Miles Austin. Even Crayton is getting involved on crucial plays.
Our running game though just turned up a huge question mark. I know that the Giants were stacking against the run, and perhaps that why Jason Witten was able to be so succesful. But I think its this offensive line. Its essentially crippled this offense. We couldn't run block to save our lives. I don't know if thats because we miss Colombo or what. But this needs to be fixed and soon.
