What will a WIN or LOSS mean today?

Winning or losing today means everything...and nothing.

If we win today, we'll be divisional champions...we'll get a home playoff game...we'll go into the playoffs with a head of steam...we'll have an outside shot at the #2 seed.

If we lose today, we'll enter the playoffs with a loss...enter the playoffs on the road...enter the playoffs with a fractured fan base...enter the playoffs with calls for Wade's job and comments about a team with no heart. (we'll hear this regardless of how well the coaches coach, how well the players play, how close the final score is...it's always all or nothing in big D.)

However, winning or losing today will mean everything for only a week, and it will mean nothing thereafter.

Win today and lose the first playoff game (whether it's next week or in two weeks), and this victory means nothing...we'll still be the crappy team that can't win a playoff game with a head coach that can't win a playoff game.

Lose today, but win the first playoff game on the road next week, and this loss will mean nothing...we'll be right back where we hoped to be all along, among the final 4 teams in the NFC, one game from the NFC championship and a possible birth in the SB.

Yes, today is a critical game, a must-win game, perhaps the most important game of the season........until next week when the playoffs actually begin.

The Cowboys will enter the playoffs at 11-5 or 10-6, both records much better than many fans actually expected at several points during the season, certainly better than those who called for us to lose out at the end and finish 8-8 and out of the playoffs.

Today's game is critical because it's today against the Eagles, but winning or losing next week is far more critical than anything that happens today.

Eagles 20

a win likely means Dallas plays indoors at home next week.

a loss likely means Dallas plays indoors on the road next week.

Though...a win would also mean that this team has heart, that this team is NOT the team of 2008, that this team knows what it has to do to win games, that this team is not selfish, that this team is a TEAM.

all good points and proving my point exactly...you'll either be a firm believer or a disgusted naysayer after today's game, and none of that will mean anything if the final result next week in the playoff game is the opposite of this week's result.

The Eagles are a very good team...every team we play from today on will be a very good team. You don't always defeat good teams; sometimes they defeat you, even when you play well and have heart. Unless of course, you think the Cowboys are clearly a better team than the Eagles and should defeat them handily...unless that is our belief, we're looking at two very good teams and anything could happen.

It'll mean we have to win our next game or our season is over.

Bingo...same bottom line either way.

I expect a win today, but the most important thing is playing well. I like the fact that our two "signature wins" this year involved winning on the road in Philly (as tough a road game as you can have) and at home against the undefeated and nearly annointed Saints.

Bodes well for next week, imo.
