Wilson, a 48-year-old former NFL quarterback, also was fined $100,000. He said he took the drugs to try to "improve the quality of my life" after living with diabetes for more than 20 years. He acknowledged he acted without "proper medical supervision."

So if Wade bought these drugs from a "dealer", and not under legal medical supervision, he must be looking at prosecution at some point, no?

He legally obtained them over the internet using his credit card...HGH isn't a controlled substance.

My next question, why did he risk punishment and not just go to a Doc? Not that you'd know, but seems dumb, no?

Well had the people he purchased it from not gotten brought into a scandal about athletes using their products and his name was in their records he wouldn't have gotten caught at all...it was just dumb luck.

Had his medical records came under review at any point, he'd have still faced the same fate, even if it were given to him by his doctor.

Really, even for a medical condition and better quality of life under doc's supervision? Seems like crap to me. So players or even coaches can't do roids or HGH even if a doc says it's for a medicl condition? What if the docs susbscribe the Bills player that hurt his spine roids? Just an example and i know he'll never play again, but if he did, he'd get in trouble because the docs said he needed roids?

If you had erectile dysfunction, you might prefer dealing with some unseen online vendor to going to your local doctor and admitting you can't get it up, too... some guys find admitting to that to be humiliating...

That said, I'm not entirely sure about this alibi, I've never heard of using HGH to deal with impotence...

I can dig that, and i agree, his alibi is a little shaky. He didn't want to risk the embarrassment of going to a doc cause he couldn't get it up, but he uses it as an excuse in front of the entire nation? I think i would have stuck STRICTLY with the diabeetus line if defence.

Correct. It's only illegal to distribute them without a proper medical prescription, to prescribe them improperly, or to possess them with the intent to distribute. The doctor who prescribed them for Wade can be prosecuted because he didn't personally examine and diagnose Wade, but Wade won't be prosecuted for anything.

Thanks. Didn't help Wade with the NFL but atleast he won't face a judge.

Which do you think Wade dislikes the most? The fine and suspension or the fact he has no lead in his pencil is posted all over the internet?

Not going to the doc because it was embarassing seems to be moot at this point, don;t ya think?

But I thought we'd established that you didn't like me all that much, here in the last day or so... :war:

I'd say he was upset with both.

Understand the $100,000 fine is a third of his salary -- that's big bucks considering he also has to pay income tax on his salary which probably leaves him with less then $250,000 and $100,000 off really hurts. Hopefully he did well financially as a starting QB for many years.

Also the 5 game suspension hurts the Cowboys and with any other owner Wilson could have lost his job. In fact don't think Jerry has to pay him while Wilson misses those games unless he willing to do so.

Then Wade sees Belicheck only getting $500,000 fine and no suspension. Would stick in my butt too. I would like to see the Commish show a little more love to Wade under the circumstances. I don't see why he can't cut the fine back to $25,000-50,000 & suspension down to 2 which I think it should have been from the beginning.

It's an illegal transaction all around. Try to go to CVS and buy HGH over the counter.

Why the feds are taking all these steroids/hgh guys out.

If you're disagreeing with me, you're wrong. What the doctor did was illegal. What Wade Wilson did was not.
