What "Window"?

As long as we have our current coaching “structure” (virtually all staff hire & fire decisions made by committee, with heavy owner-input), we’ll always be in danger of missing whatever our current window might be. Maybe we get lucky and everything comes together in the same season, maybe not.
The main threat remaining to "the window" is coaching. Young, talented roster with lots of guys signed so we don't have to be reaching in the draft. I see enough personnel. Our personnel is better than what we had during our playoff losses, and even in those games, the problem was coaching more than personnel.

Window is wide open and there is one thing blocking the view..................

iu

Marinelli too. Maybe Marinelli more. Last two playoff losses were primarily on him.

Yep...it’s an ongoing issue.

Wade Phillips was required to accept Jason Garrett as his OC, just as JG was force-fed Rob Ryan and then Kiffin/Marinelli as DCs, along with Bill Callahan, followed by Scott Linehan and now Kellen Moore as his OCs. And one can only guess who makes the final decisions on assistant fires/hires.

As long Jerry remains active in the FO, we’ll likely never have a HC who’s given the basic autonomy of totally choosing his own coaching staff.

The players have wasted the "window" in this case, with their hoggish desire for more money.

Have we missed whatever "Window" we supposedly had?
The time to strike was when our main contributors were under cheap contracts.
Now, all of them are wanting to get "Paid" and that is resulting in drama and distractions.
This season seems to be the last season before things really come off the rails financially/cap-wise.
The Cap will be way out of kilter having to pay 4 or 5 player over 50% of the cap (Dak, Lawrence, Zeke, Cooper). There will be other players after this season seeking extensions (J. Smith, Chido).
There is no way to retain all of these players. The team has done a great job drafting but they will have to keep that streak going to replenish the roster to compensate for players that will leave via FA.
I don't mind paying the players what their value is but they haven't accomplished much of anything of significance so we are basically forced to pay for without any tangible results beside individual achievements.
Dak is the window. As long as you have a franchise level QB the window is centered around him and if the front office can put a decent team around that QB.

There's no window with Garrett as HC and Jerry doesn't plan on hiring a real HC (or GM) anytime soon.
