What Won't Be Changing In 2012 For Your Dallas Cowboys...

There is plenty of material to debate about this version of your Dallas Cowboys. But you don't need to waste any of your time and/or frustration debating if/whether these things will change over the offseason:

Jason Garrett - Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys

Complain and second-guess all you want (I know I sure have), but it is not in the best long-term interest of the Cowboys to switch out Garrett at this early juncture. He is a smart guy who will learn from his mistakes. Sean Payton was no dream coach in 2007 and 2008 with the Saints, but he was building something. We need to support Garrett while he builds something. I think his core principles and intelligence should produce more fruit as he matures into the position. Now, about that OC position...

Tony Romo - Starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys

Hands down Romo is the best QB we've had since Aikman, heck, he may even be better than Aikman (athletically speaking) as Aikman would have retired early behind the OL Romo plays behind. Does that mean we don't draft someone to learn behind him? Of course not, we should always have a solid backup and a young gun we're grooming, but Romo gives us our best chance to win now and over the next 3 years.

Jerry Jones - Owner and GM of the Dallas Cowboys

I spent years of my life hating Jerry for destroying what he built in the early 90s due to his pride and arrogance. I loved me those 3 Superbowls, the first two more than the last one, but never forgave him for "driving Jimmy away" and wasting the talent of the Triplets with puppet HCs. I had visions of a dynasty like no other in football under Jimmy, but that was not to be.

A couple of years ago, I came to the realization that we'd be looking at at least another 10 years of the HC/GM position being occupied by Jerry. I can create internal stress and gastrointestinal issues or I can sit back and let Jerry do what he does. When I let go of the hate and the frustration, it made my football life a little better. I still can't stand losing, but I trust that Jerry has winning as the main focus as it generates more money than losing. He has done enough to show he's not incompetent, so while I may still dream of a different GM, I don't ever expect one until Jerry's pushing up daisies.

Conclusion

So there you have it fellow Cowboys fans. 3 things that we don't need to fight over for the next 3-6 months. Now we can focus on arguing about Ryan's defense, Newman's deterioration, Spencer's mediocrity, Campo's worth, Dez's 3 routes, swapping offensive tackles, Felix's ability to stay healthy and the various other things we like to argue about. Just remember that we're all rooting for the same team, so ultimately we're on the same team.

Though I both agree with you and admire your attempt to remove 3 items from the need to debate this ofseason because I agree all 3 will be here next season. I highly doubt everyone will agree and there will be multiple threads and/or posts making their desire to have at least one (and sometimes all) gone from the organization.

In fact, I'd almost be willing to predict at least one 'trade romo for draft picks, bundle them up and grab luck' posts will show up sometime in the next few months.

I think for argument's sake that most would agree that if you put Aikman on this team, he'd be struggling more than Romo. His lack of escapable mobility would probably be his downfall. Romo is the better all around athlete, I don't think there's a question about that.
