What would a George Pickens contract be like in 2026?

TO also ‘hated to lose’

Pickens is a headcase who will want targets to produce so he can get a magadeal

If he doesnt get the targets he thinks he should (and headcases always think that) or if the team has a losing streak, he is going to lose it

Giving up a third for this idiot? Absolutely pathetic by our moron of a GM
Lol

He’s the most purely talented player we’ve traded for since, hell, Charles Haley? Galloway? He’s got more talent than Amari.

As to free agents, you’d probably have to go back to TO.

We complain about Jerry never making a move for big time talent. Well, this is big time talent.

Now we see what happens
More talent than Cooper? Get serious. There’s a reason why Cooper was drafted #4 overall in the first round. Pickens was drafted in round 2 while being the 7th to 9th ranked WR in his draft class depending on on who you read. Pickens is not fast or quick. His routes are not great yet. He struggles to separate. His greatness is in tracking the ball and making acrobatic catches, contested catches. Pickens had moderate success as a #1 in Pittsburg, and hopefully he will be a great #2 for Dallas. I think it was a great deal for us in this situation and what our options were, but let’s not pretend we just traded a 3rd round pick for Randy Moss.

In 2019, Cooper and Gallup each had 1000 yards receiving with Lamb still in college. If Lamb and Pickens can do that, I’ll be thrilled.

The Cowboys have the money to sign everyone. If they make a run in the playoffs they will. If not they will move on from certain guys.
i wish jerry would develop the mindset thats it better to unload a guy a year too early rather than a year too late

I cannot stress the point above enough. If he ends up being the WR we want him to be, he's going to want 35M a year. Dallas probably won't pay that. Which makes him a 1 year rental, pretty much invalidating the reason for the trade to begin with.
If he signs elsewhere for 35m per like you said, we get a 3rd round comp pick for that one year of service. And if he gets that, it would mean he had a damn good year for us, wherever that may help us get to. So if he does have that type of season, there's a very good chance we make the playoffs and might even make a little noise. So that 3rd we gave up would be towards the bottom of the round. And the comp pick we receive would be maybe ten (or less?) slots below that. So in effect, it would mean us dropping a little in the 3rd, and a late round pick swap for his one year rental. Hardly "invalidating" the reason for the trade to begin with.

He definitely does not have more talent then Amari Cooper. He's a 50/50 Wr on certain throws but more talented is a reach by far.

I’m looking forward to watching football.

The boards fixation on contracts and the cap, of which 95% of them have only the vaguest comprehension, is fuel for endless arguments but is ultimately just a timewaste.
People rarely talked cap back in the day. Now, almost all our fans are cap experts.

I understand all of this. But then what is the point? Did we trade for him to make the playoffs, or do it to hopefully compete for a championship? If he's gone next year and we get a 3rd back, that's not helping us compete for a championship. It's mitigating our losses. It ends up being a meaningless trade that just gets us a poor draft position.

I don’t “believe” the Cowboys have even signed Parsons yet. What are they doing with their money?
Remember Jerry is running a circus. He wants a show. The Cowboys will be leading the talk shows all summer long with the contract talks. Just like Jerry wants it.

You think it is better to unload Dak, CeeDee and Parsons. . You don’t unload Halll of Fame talents and a franchise quarterback. The problem with our franchise is they pay guys like Diggs, Gallup, Steele, Jaylon, Zeke, Tank, ect…. Players that have been solid but could be easily replaced. For some reason the Cowboys think they get a deal by signing them early. It does not work like that.

He will “try” but it will unravel in the second half if he is not getting the targets
I SO AGREE WITH THIS!! Feel like it's just a matter of time, if this were Cooks, i'd say hell yeah that's cool in terms of attitude/behavior just for example, but for him, not sure!!

It's such a stupid way of doing things, and it's getting so old!!!! I wish people would call him out more in the media and in the organization. Hell let's just keep waiting and waiting and waiting, HEY TJ WATT just signed his deal, let's TOP IT!!!!! Breaking news, Myles Garrett didn't like his new deal, he wants 50 million, oh ok, Jerry's even happier, and signs micah for 53!!

Id say Amari and Roy Williams were more talented. Williams crapped the bed when he got here, but he was supremely talented

Im going with, we traded to eradicate any possible Offensive excuse .....giving the opportunity to truly evaluate Dak and work out the remaining years of the contract. Give Dak: New HC, new scheme, new play caller, the most varied WR room , a running game and good protection up the middle.

Parsons has one shot at holding out when fines can be rescinded. That is now. The deal will be north of $40 million AAV. The whole world knows it. The Cowboys are already a circus without needing anymore antics. Micah himself has stated the importance of being active in training camp so he can “hit the ground running”.

Dallas’ chances of garnering a playoff spot is slim enough considering the schedule and the Eagles and Commanders. Playing chicken with Parsons and his agent diminishes the team’s ability to be completely ready. Jerry is a **mn fool.

To be honest, his people have already leaked info similar to this. THIS is why I have said the Cowboys can use the franchise tag and have his service pretty cheap for 2 years

Pickens may be worth it. Philly, Cinnci and Rams have gone with this strategy.

You’re getting the most out your QB too

The media is not going to do anything about it because after mini camp there will be nothing to talk about.

I'd look at it like taking a shot. Could we win with him? Possibly. Could we resign him if he behaves and likes playing here? Possibly. Taking a shot. With the added bonus of having a fallback plan of getting a draft pick back if it doesn't work out.
