What Would Be A Bigger Loss - Marinelli or Linehan?

All the talk about losing these guys is the rage. Personally I dont think we lose either unless a HC gig is offered, but if we were going to lose one, which would be the bigger loss, our OC or DC?

I'd say Marinelli because the players and system are there to succeed on offense with another coordinator. The offense was actually pretty good even last year without Linehan. The defense was garbage with Kiffin. Marinelli markedly improved the defense while subtracting its 3 best players (Lee, Hatcher, Ware). Linehan somewhat improved the offense while getting the addition of an All-Pro.

I think Marinelli is more likely to stay because he wants to be a DC and probably won't be offered a HC job. So he might as well stay here with people who he respects. Linehan is young enough to get another kick at the can if he is interested.

Both, Romo has built a great relationship with Linehan. Marenelli should get coach of the year for what he did with what he had to work with.

Difficult question. I think Marinelli has done more than Linehan, but I can envision more replacements for Marinelli than for Linehan.

I think they both stay. Leslie Frazier was NOT fired in Tampa. Jerry will likely keep Kiffin around if Marinelli stays, but it's doubtful that Tampa would pay to bring Kiffin on as a consultant. Marinelli's "loyalty" could play into this in the opposite direction that the media portrays. He is probably as loyal to Kiffin as he is to Lovie.

The longer the Cowboys stay in the playoff, the lower the chances of Linehan being a Head Coaching option. Most teams want to get that resolved before the Super Bowl. Linehan had an 11-=25 record as a Head Coach.

That's like asking do you want to keep your right arm or your right leg?? I'd like to keep both, thank you very much.

but Marinelli would be the toughest to give up. Hopefully, Jerry does the right thing and give both a big raise, and not just some membership in the jelly of the month club.

I don't know. For what it's worth, I watched some pregame stuff on NFL Network. And on the ticker at the bottom, they listed off all the teams looking for coaches and the guys teams were looking at.

Lots of teams looking at Bowles.
Josh McDaniel is mentioned.
Rex Ryan
The Denver OC.
Quinn and Cable in Seattle.
Several others I can't remember.

No mention of either Linehan or Marinelli.

I know the ticker isn't the be all and end all, but I don't know if they in much demand as many say.

As an aside, no mention of Clay for teams looking for GM's, either.

I agree. I think there is a far better chance that both stay than either will be gone.

Linehan because the offense is in place, he's on the same page with Romo, and he gets how to use this offense to its strength.

Having said that, Marrinelli would be a huge loss. I just feel like we could mitigate that loss better with Eberflus being promoted to DC and adding talent in FA and the Draft to this defense.

I'd say Linehan. I think we could replace either guy and Maranelli is doing more with less. But, Linehan is more important. I'd like for the O to have this continuation on offense.

I'm continuously amazed at the performance that Marinelli is able to elicit from this group. I can't imagine any other coach looking at key pieces such as DLaw, Hayden, or even Mincey (who's one of my favs.) and thinking "key Championship player"
On the other hand, Linehan has done a good job, a definite improvement from last year. But he has alot of pretty incredible weapons to work with!
Wouldn't It take the offensive genius of someone like David Shula to underachieve with this offense?

I want everything to stay the same forever just like it is. I don't want to go back to Kansas.
