This is the question that has to be answered by Big Mike, you be big Mike and tell us what you'd do differently to be brought back???

If they run it back with the same players, what can he do differently? All NFCE teams have a brutal schedule next season (Giants a bit less brutal but they suck so badly it won't matter). We need to be healthy to even have a chance to take the division. Maybe Daniels pulls a Stroud with a lesser sophomore year and we pass the Commies. Philly will probably still be the best team in the division. I would think MM would do his best to solidify the o-line as the #1 priority on offense...and probably pray for help on the D-line.

I'd fire Solari, Schottenheimer and Zimmer.

No clue on who I can replace them with but it will be other old buddy re-treads that I've known or worked with.

I'd somehow figure out a way to consistently run the football effectively.
How to do that I'm not quite sure as I'm kinda clueless in that regard but I'll try AGAIN.

And THIS time I double dog promise to fix all the penalties.

So there...
Where's my 10 mil per year Jerry?
My retirement portfolio needs some extra cash flow.

Oh yeah, and don't forget I'm a winner!

Mike has already told you what he thinks in his media statements. This is what he believes:

1. He considers himself a “winner.” In his mind— A SB ring says it all. Three straight 12-5 season proves he has won here.

2. In view of point 1, why should he change? If it ain’t broke— why fix it? He believes in himself and his program.

IMO— MM is a decent HC. He just passed Parcells on the all time wins list. You don’t accomplish that if you can’t coach.

However, I don’t believe he is the right coach for Dallas anymore. The penalties, the turnovers, the lack of offensive production vs quality opponents, and above all— the dismal playoff FAILURES all say the same thing: It is time to move on.

JJ respects him and he clearly wants to stay in Dallas despite the dysfunctional FO. But the bottom line is that when this team absolutely cratered against GB, he was revealed to be insufficient as a HC for what this team desperately needs:

Discipline
Accountability
Toughness
Grit
Sacrifice
Preparation
Determination

Under MM this team’s character is:

Self-focused
Mouthy
Soft
Predictable
Distracted
Arrogant
Entitled

Blaming JJ and the FO is correct. Ultimate responsibility lies with the owner and GM. But make no mistake— it is not JJ failing to have his team ready and prepared for games. That is on the coaches. And the GB debacle is the perfect example.

Ask yourself this question: when is the last time you felt that Dallas clearly out-coached, out-managed, and out-schemed a team?

Last point: MM has this team tuned to destroy the bad teams, compete with the midling teams, and get whipped by contending teams. That has been the story for 5 years and I see no reason to believe that will change if he stays another 5 years.

If you believe that this team beating NY, Carolina, barely beating Washington and TB means they “were close” then congratulations— JJ has you believing his narrative that we are “hanging around the rim.”

Running it back (again) is delaying the inevitable.

Can you imagine if they run him back with a 3 or 4 year deal and they go 8-9 next year....which is entirely possible....Booger ain't eating that contract....this whole situation is just one giant S show.

That is pretty much what is going to happen, or worse.

Only the further decline in fan excitement. Maybe very exciting OC and DC hired would help.

I get your point.

But one thing you need to mention Big Mac has 18 years as a head coach. 12 of those were play off years.

Yes, he hasn't made a deep run here, but he will get you there. Then it depends on the players to step up and make things happen.

Just as you can't put all the blame on the players you can't put all the blame on the coaches.

The GM put those guys in the same room to do the job. If what he puts together continually comes up short, that's where the finger should be pointed. And with the joke we have at GM it's been a problem for 30 years.

Let’s see

- With Zeke gone we will have a new RB (either RB1 or RB2).
- Zimmerman is probably retiring, so Jerry will need to find another DC.
- There will be a new WR2, with Cooks and Tolbert gone.
- They will need to find a new MLB if they don’t bring Kendricks back.
- They will have to make a decision on DeMarcus Lawrence.
- Zach Martin is probably done here, so Bass may take over if they draft another G.
- It maybe interesting what they do with QB2.
- If there is friction between McCarthy and John Falwell there maybe a new ST coach. I’m sure there will other changes to the staff.
- I believe the FO will be more aggressive in free agency than last year, but that’s not saying much.
- New rookies

His paycheck will be bigger.
Booger will claim he won the negotiations and strut like a rooster in front of everybody with a microphone about how proud he is to have the coach he wanted and he's all in for 2025.

You can’t win in the playoffs when you beat yourself, and MM’s teams make far too many mistakes, commit far too many self-inflicted wounds to be able to beat the best teams in the league

I agree with you that MM can get you to the playoffs, but if his best is a division championship and maybe a divisional round playoff win— is that enough?

For me— it isn’t. There hasn’t been enough progress made on penalties, the slow starts, the turnovers etc… to ever make me think he can win the biggest games of the year.

5 years is enough to know what you have.

If I’m Mike and Jerry asked me that….I’d say “we are going to stop the run better because you’re actually going to get the people you pay to do your job and make it look as if it’s you to get players that can do so, or I’m going to Chicago, and good luck Jerry.”

If Mikes family doesn’t want to move, then maybe not. He can continue take the blame for Jerry’s shortcomings at a discounted rate if not.

Then he dies more than likely and takes this QB and Coach combo as his last decisions ever. He won't be hiring another coach and looking for a qb past Dak and Mike. He'll be long gone by the time those contracts expire
