The Cowboys have jettisoned Dez. It's done. Time to move on from that.

If you were the Cowboys, what would be the next significant move you would make to improve the team? Additions? Subtractions? Trades? Draft picks?

Let's hear your point of view.

Honestly I would continue gearing for the draft with evaluations and finishing my board. After the draft we know what positions we can add future talent to. The draft is funny and if we get a good part of what we need, we did good, but if a position like LB is still worrisome, there is still Bowman we could get if needed..... It is all about finding the right guys during the draft and knowing what we could still get as fill ins if certain positions we want are not there..... Hope for the best.....

Agreed. The draft is key.

Do you guys see anymore significant cuts on the horizon?

It should have been a new staff.

Next step will matter when that happens.

I'm neutral on the coaches right now. I would like to see Marinelli go but am willing to be patient and see what happens now.

I was glad to see Dez go. I have been pretty critical of our coaching the last couple of years but as I look back on it we may have been more handicapped than I thought we were offensively because of Dez' mental migetry and his behind the scenes issues.

The fact Dez outed himself stating the team captains were against him says a lot about how he was viewed inside the organization. There were reasons for that.

I would sign Bowman and try to trade 50 for Earl Thomas. Then I’d take Calvin Ridley @19 and Josey Jewell /Darius Leonard @81 then go DT and OG in round 4.

I would rather address the OL in round one if the need aligned with BPA. It makes our whole team go.

Invest the money in defense.

Bowman.

Thomas/ or Boston

Maybe 1tech if we have enough

What would be your next move? get out of the NFL and see if the high school system would let the Cowboys enter into the league. Then we could watch high school coaches out coach garrett too. but garrett and his fans could and would be able to use the same excuses.. :"everybody was hurt , the high school league hates us, the wr forgot how to run routes".. oh well who we looking at in the 2019 draft

Not gonna lie and say I don't like your idea..... If it takes only pick 50 and ET is willing to do a new contract for multiple years to lower the last years of his current contract while giving him good value, I could live with such. Personally I do not see getting Ridley at 19 like most mocks have shown, but if he was available, I still need to question his age and experience. If we are fine with him for only 5 years, it should take some consideration. Because of his age, a second contract is not a good risk. Personally I see 6 other receivers a small step down from him but are late first rounders or second rounders. The drop off is not very big. Then again we are talking trading our 2nd if ET is willing to work with us. Personally I am in love with Jewell in the 3rd if he falls to us......I just don't think he falls that far..... All of this backfires if we do not get a capable LB and OG we trust to do their job....

Last year we signed Alfred Morris preceding the draft, and probably passed on Alvin Kamara, and Kareem Hunt because we thought we had decent depth already in play with Morris.
Not that Morris was horrible, but would you rather have that Kamara / Hunt type back, 3rd round contract right now?
Just saying, sometimes overplaying FA can also come back and bite you,, just draft, and if we miss on a LB, and Bowman is still out there, that's when I would make my move.

Morris was bad. He was a liability when he was on the field. You were on to something. Go with it.

Just saying not every team gets lucky with third round draft picks, the draft is always a roll of the dice.
But what you do get, if you are smart and draft well, are cap friendly contributors, that you can build with.
Signing Morris last year was a knee jerk reaction, we had not drafted EE yet, but this OL can give a rookie RB immediate impact.
That's how I look at bring in rookie talent, when evaluating my board, and who is left, depending on round,, it comes down to impact/talent.
Never need,, if I need a LB, but my board is raped, then I'm looking at which RB is still available, because this teams bread and butter is the the OL.
Accentuate your strengths, and you win Championships.

Honestly....we need a QB. Funny how Dez put up huge numbers w/ Romo...then you get a guy that can't throw a spiral...knuckleballer...and yet Dez was the problem.

What will be the excuse now...when everyone is putting balls on the turf?

RB is a huge need for this team. If Zeke goes down we are in trouble.

Stick with the defense on draft day and don't panic and reach/trade up for that WR1. A LG would be fine, just don't concentrate on offense too much early.

The Dez release created another hole(if they still depend on a #1), no need to create more trying to fill that one at the defenses expense.

A FA signing of a LB or Safety would be nice before the draft so Dallas can go BPA.

I'm not saying its a huge need,, we have huge needs, G, LB, DL topping the list, huge needs means pick at 19.
I appreciate the enthusiasm and support to draft that 2nd RB, we do need that Nyheim Hines type home run type,, gotta get there before BB IMO.
Perfect complement to Zeke.
But I would take the bigger Kalen Ballage before Hines, and he would be your immediate BU plan and Breather for Zeke.
Both should be hovering in the 3rd.... maybe.
