If each team could decide whatever air pressure they wanted on footballs while on offense, kick offs, etc, what do you think teams would do? Only caveat is that whatever pressure they chose, they had to use on all balls throughout the game. Example: no deflated balls on onside kicks but full pressure for field goals and another pressure for the offense.
You cant throw a flat ball worth a damn, so I cant see teams completely deflating them. It seems like they'd probably keep them inflated to a range similar to what the rules are now but if a team wanted to use a flat ball, then the defense would know they're only gonna run, it would be hard to kick off, do field goals and extra points. So ,I'm wondering what strategies teams would come up with if there were no constraints.
Would it hurt (or help) the game? Or would it seek its own level and find a range similar to what the rules require now?
Thoughts?
