What would the team look like next year if Dak's contract isn't extended/restructured?

They other possibility, trade Trey Lance for some high draft picks. To move up for Caleb. Then have a QB on a rookie deal. And do one of the options in my 1st post with Dak.
Yeah, someone will give us “high draft picks” for a player who hasnt played since we gave up a 4th for him a few weeks back

Put down whatever you are drinking

Coffee....I was throwing out a hypothetical as an option. It is my opinion. No need to go ballistic over it.
What is your plan? Status quo?

With Trey Lance?

It would probably look the same initially.

How worse could it be?
He has more talent but needs to be coached up. I'd take that route before paying Dak again. Let him test the market

If they don't extend Dak they are about $7 million over the CAP so first thing is make CAP room. I suspect that means not signing any decent free agents.

I have been saying for several years now they need to build the team to run the football and stop the run. Make Dak less important to the game. I really want to see if they can do that with Trey Lance who will be a lot less expensive and brings some running ability of his own to the game.

Unfortunately Dak is not going anywhere, you cut or trade him, you still on the books for $61M(ouch) and you know the Clampetts are not going to let the coach make him a backup. So, what are we looking at? Kicking the can down the road with no end insight.

Tell me you didn't watch the Early-2000s Dallas Cowboys without telling me you didn't watch the Early-2000s Dallas Cowboys.

With Dak having such a large cap hit next year, what would the team look like if he's not extended/ his contract restructured? Would they be able to extend CeeDee, Micah, etc.? Could they even field a competitive team? I'm not a cap guy so I'm just curious what would happen. If they really choose to move on then I'd love to see Lance for a year but I don't see how that happens with Dak making so much money. Surely they wouldn't actually let him be the backup unless he continues to play like he did Sunday. We all know he'll show out against some mediocre teams and then implode if they even make the playoffs. What a terrible spot to be in. We're going to waste CeeDee and Micah's primes just like so many other players who have come through this organization since 1995.
Who cares,I just want the bum gone,it's not we're winning anything with him.. remember we had to go 1-15 to get Troy,id go through that again to get a top flight QB
