Lets say Kyle Wilber is our best sam but He is also our Best Passrusher at the DE position atleast until lawrence and spencer gets back. What would you do?

A) keep wilber at sam and just roll with mincey and crawford and have our passrush be medicore
B) Move Wilber to DE to get passrush but then be stuck with having bruce carter play the SAM or Durant
C) "Enter Your option here"

I guess on run downs we would just roll with mincy and crawford for now and of course passing downs wilber moves to DE like von miller does.

Sucks both rookie DE's are hurt for a long period of time. We need all the help we can get.

Keep him at SAM, roll the dice with Mincey & Crawford, as it's not a total losing gamble with them. Let them get some playing time, to improve their pass rush. It's not like Wilber will be the big difference maker as a defense as a group.
Stop moving him around, it's one or the other. Right now we need the depth at LB, so leave him there.

I'd be playing him at SAM but I'd have some packages where he is coming off the edge with that look.

I would do exactly what they've been doing in the 2 preseason games.

Have Wilber as the starter at SLB. Then when they go to the Nickel defense where they only use to LBs, move Wilber to DE. The Nickel has less run contain requirements by the DE because the offense is most often passing in those situations. Mincey is better in the base when run defense is a bigger issue.

Me, I want to win the next mega lottery drawing...and then purchase season tickets.

If Ronaldo McClain isn't a full up by the start of the first game, then Durant gets the job. The middle of the defense is too important.
That would leave Wilber on the strong side and Carter on the weak. I'm sorry, but we would, with that decision on McClain, be left with that positional group.

As to package linebackers, I would so bring in Burnett. Not a complete alternative, yet functional where strengthening is needed. Durant will be tired by ends of games in this picture.

C'mon, McClain...much of this defense's projection really relies upon you.

I can see picking up someone off the waiver wire, or even 2. Unless there is someone they can trade for. We have a RB, either Randle or Williams, and a few WR's that can be used for trades.

Yep. Maybe play around with Carter at SLB or one of the Ss at nickel LB on third downs.

Church could handle the job. That would mean a fill for him in the safety slot.

No, no, no. Safeties are not linebackers.

:) That doesn't seem fair...linebackers can be safeties. Look at a 2nd round pick for Darren Woodsen. Who the Cowboys had timed at 4.3 on grass...

But, in packages, they are coverage anyway. I guess it boils down to wage scale and Union backings. ;)

lol...Darren Woodson was a freak. He could've played any position except maybe Guard or Quarterback.

Right, that's just what I was thinking, with Heath and Wilcox at S. I like it better in most situations than Hitchens, anyway. And maybe better than Carter, depending who we're playing.

Hamilton is another one you'd think they might consider there in the nickel, but I haven't heard anything about them playing him in that situation in camp, yet, so that's probably a stretch to plug him in now so close to the season starting. With Church, though, you could do it I would think.

I think one would find some disappointed tight ends and running backs on opposing teams.
