What WR could we pick at 26 or later in 1st round, that's better than Roy

I see none, Crabtree will be high pick,, I would love for us to grab Iglesias from Texas or the WR from Mizzou in the 2nd....

I think Roy is a great trade for that reason, even at 27 he would be a better option at WR than any other late first round WR coming out next season.....

So far out all the WRz drafted in this past draft only the rookie on the Broncos is doing anything......and he was a 2nd rounder.

Sorry for the post it's 3am and the game start in 7 hours, I'm kinda bored, I lost 300 at the casino, BTW here in vegas they had Giants game on Guide on Friday, now they have Cowboys game on at 10, hope it's true, i can save $40 not going to the sports bar or casino............

damn did this really warrant another thread.... Although you are right the RW trade has instant impact now and value over anyone that could have been drafted.

This is the same argument we used to justify the Joey Galloway trade.

This sounds like Dan Snyder's rational of thinking. Why draft rookies when veterans have a more immediate impact???

Who says we are picking at 26? Add in a 3rd and 6th gone. Also add in $9M in free agency that could be spent.

I don't really think it's the WR that are bust in Detroit. The whole damn organization is a BUST. RW11, just like Calvin Johnson will in time, just got tired of giving their all and losing each and every year. RW11 will better fot the Cowboys then anyone that will be coming out of the draft and your chances of a good return on your investment with him is far greater.

Let's get it straight. We got the 6th BACK from the Titans, however we do get the 7th from Detroit which will not be that different from our 6th. Add in the comp picks(most likely a 5th and 6th) and your argument makes even less sense. Williams was a great trade. We already had too many draft picks for a team this talented. This team was not going to draft 12 players. As for the 9 million, we are 7.5 million UNDER the cap right now. That gets moved into next year. This teams priority will be keeking their own players. Give it a rest already. :banghead:

RW's gotta step up now and prove this was a great trade. In games where Owens only gets 3 or 4 catches, RW should be making people pay. It will take him a few weeks to learn the offense but he's gotta make an impact. 10 weks from now if we're 8-8 or 9-7 and the offense is struggling to move the ball and get pts, and RW has 25 catches for 300 yds and a couple of tds, this move isnt going to look so good.

Difference is, we are built to win a superbowl THIS YEAR and the next 4 years or so after this year, so THAT'S when you add the one extra impact guy to put you over the top ala Charles Haley and then Deion back in the day.
We're SPOILED I think, it's VERY HARD to win a superbowl, so when your'e as close as we are, SCREW the future draft picks if you can get a guy with an immediate impact on a team that has a GREAT SHOT at winning the superbowl NOW!
If Galloway oesn't get hurt, who knows how much of an impact he could of had the year we traded for him, but that's irrelevant, Jerry screwed that one up cause he should of traded for a W.R. 3 years PRIOR to the Galloway trade when we were still in great shape to win a superbowl before all our stars retired, we got a shot at winning a superbowl this year, and Roy Williams just gave up a HUGE shot in the arm to do that, and do it for the next 5 years in a row where a draft pick would of been a crap shoot, it's not like Galloway either cause Roy Williams is 26 years old, I'd give up a 1st and 3rd rounder EVERY SINGLE YEAR for the rest of my life for a 26 year old PROVEN NFL PRO-BOWLER, the fact we got him when our team is already stacked and are in great shape to win it all makes it that much sweeter!
Daniel Snyder goes 3-13 and signs guys like Deion who's 35 years old, BIG DIFFERENCE!

Let's get one thing straight on the Galloway trade, it had nothing to do with talent. He was, and still is, a very good NFL wide receiver. He was great in Seattle the year before we traded for him. It had everything to do with injuries. He just started getting injured when he became a Cowboy and never really got healthy, to this day. His stature has a lot to do with it. Look at the injury report today, and you will see Galloway on it.

Jones traded for a very good talent, and to no fault of Jerry's, the guy could not stay healthy.

Actually (spelling?) I like that little Deshaun Jackson or whatever his name is....the really fast tiny kid with the eagles. I thought he was too small coming out but he hasnt done to shabby for a rookie either.

Jackson was gone by our pick.

I think Jeremy Macklin would be a good pick, but he'll probably be gone by the time we're on the clock.

you guys act as if Roy WIlliams is already an elite WR. He still has a lot to prove, not only just that the trade is good but that he is a top WR in the nfl, granted he is still young

Yeah he's doing well too. He's got two punt/kickoff returns for TDs as well. I looked up the rookie stats for receivers and there's like five or six with good stats so far..

All the WRs were taken in the second round and later last year too btw, no first rounders

Look at it a little differently. Let's say we didn't do a deal with the Lions, and that come draft day next year the Lions wanted to package this deal to us when we were on the clock in the first round, would you do it then? Just curious.

I predict that a lot of the anti Roy E. W. guys are going to have a lot of ammo after this game, and until Romo gets back. I predict that Johnson throws the ball the Barber and Deon Anderson 90% of the time.

We won't know how good Roy will be in this offense until Romo has time with him.

Nors, your sig is perfect, because you cant handle the truth. Roy Williams is a good WR, better than anyone we could have drafted. A change of scenery does wonders for people.

The deal haters used that same old tired *** line when we signed Bigg, "he wasnt that good at Zona", blah, blah, blah. Im sure Calvin Johnson would be a better receiver somewhere else.

RW11 will make this whole team better, and defenses better respect that, or theyre gonna pay. Its that simple.

Oh BTW we recouped our 3rd and 6th back, so basically we gave up a first, so when draft time comes around, in the first round just think that RW is our first round pick. We have nine picks now with the possibility of getting 11, no way does 9 players make this team, let alone 11, and we can trade up if we want to.
