Whatever Happend to Marion Barber's Breakaway Speed?

I was just watching this NFL Draft Scouting Video of Marion Barber (link is at the bottom) and If you watch it Barber has breakaway speed that he has never shown since we drafted him. What the hell happen to him? I've never been this fast? If he had this speed he would be the full-time starter for the cowboys and be an all-pro already.

His "Breakaway speed" is still on college. The NFL is a whole different ballgame.

That was college.

Unless you have elite speed, the pro game catches up with you. Look at all the College burners. How many have the same speed in comparison to everyone else. Reggie Bush hasn't been able to flat-out leave people in the dust like he could in college. The game is just faster.

Few players actually maintain their speed advantage. I would say one of the guys who has done it recently is Adrian Peterson. his burst is amazing.

The Big 10 isnt exactly a sanctuary of speed.

Emmitt didn't have breakaway speed either. Emmitt was one of the best because he pretty much never missed a hole.
