Jones all but gushed about Garrett's potential, but would not commit to him beyond this season. "He's got the chance to get it, but I haven't given it to him, and I can't really tell you what it would take to give it to him. But I want to give it to him."

That's how I read Jerry's response, which reached a level of incomprehensible Jerry-speak when the owner tried to explain the ''hierarchy of responsibility'' he stressed to the players. I can only hope he was less opaque to the team. I thought I got what he was trying to say, but after watching him say it a few times, I'm not entirely sure

Jones seemed to rule out wins and losses as the prime criteria for Garrett's retention or dismissal, talking more about culture and seeing the ''winning football effort'' so lacking this season.

correct- wins and losses mean nothing for the rest of the season. If he can get this group of losers to play smart and hard then he earns another season.

Garrett HAS TO WIN GAMES, PERIOD. He does not have to have a winning second half of the season, but if this team goes 1-7 over the next 8 games Jerry can not sell promoting him to the fans. No way, no how, not possible. If this team goes 3-5 or 4-4 then you can make a case. With this team that would be some coaching in my book and you extend Garrett.

But the Red Head Genius HAS TO WIN SOME GAMES.

Maybe it's very fortunate that the first game with Garrett as our HC comes against the Giants. In the last game against the Giants, we all remember we lost Romo for the season & our defense collapsed aswell after his injury.

I want this Cowboy team to finally show up and play a very physical & aggressive game--neither of which they've done so far this year. I want revenge for the injury to Romo. Not calling on deliberate knocking any player out of a game but sure want revenge for knocking us out of the playoffs in 2007 & beating us twice in 2009. I sure wouldn't mind seeing a whole lot of Giant players limping off the field after the game is over. It's time for this Cowboy team to rise up and shut up those Giant fans & their players.

Realize that Garrett's coaching the same players with the same problems that got us to 1-7. I just like to see this team really come to play & too play tough the whole game.

I want Eli's head on a platter :)

If we play better than we did the first few games and play every game hard for the whole game then that is a sign of progress. Wins would be nice, and we need at least a couple of them, but they should not be the main criteria.
Wade won a good number of games; but in the end it did not matter.

Only chance Dallas has against the Gmen is a great RUNNING attack and DEFENSE.

Shorten the game and keep it close.
This will be the same formula until Romo is available. This was what Parcells was so good at. Manage your bad team but keep the game close to give yourselves a chance in the 4th quarter.

I doubt you will see a line up change during this game. Garrett wants to see who will play for him. Next game is where I expect changes in starters.
