What's an easier transition for Connor, RT or LG?

Correct me if wrong but I believe he played LT all three years at Texas. We announced him as G. The idea is to put this kid in the best position for immediate success. We know Collins can play either position as Stephen Jones reminded us. I guess my question if you're the Cowboys during training camp, are you plugging him at LG and leave him or try him at RT also see if that's a better fit. The key here again is we know Collins can play either.

I thought that drafting a T or G would tell us the thoughts on Collins. T if Collins was moving to LG or G if Collins was staying at T. Seems that Williams could go either way so I don't know a whole lot more this morning. My thoughts are LG since he was announced as a G and I've read that his arm length isn't ideal for T. Competition for starting LG with M Mart. I just hope they've made a decision on Collins and leave him there. Need the continuation and continuity

This is a very fair point of discussion, and obviously the Cowboys had to have given some thought to this. My guess is since they introduced him as a guard they are expecting to use him as a guard.

I would rather have him at guard. He will have plenty of help for the transition. We got LG at RT now, I think it's time to let him settle where he is and begin to build some cohesion.

True, playing between two all pros would be a nice place to land. Both can cover up for some early season miscues. Good thought process

Think we'll see a small musical chair shuffle at LG and RT revolving Williams, Collins and Fleming in MC

arm length shouldn't really stop him from playing tackle if La'el collins is playing tackle. There arm length is basically the same. Williams 33 inches and Collins 33 1/4 inches. Put the guys at their best position. I think collins should go back to guard because he is bigger and stronger. Don't want williams to be pushed back into Dak prescott face.

Where did Collins play his best at?

I just want to get the 5 best guys in there best position for the team to win games. Whoever and where ever those 5 guys are placed lets do it. Time to win some games this year.

I loved this pick and I'm definately plugging him in at Guard.

I think he's got the footwork and agility to be a high-level guard and while not quite the ideal amount of power, he plays with such a good pad level and does such a nice job driving with his feet in a short area that I don't think bull rush guys are a problem. Which is why I think he's a better guard. But at tackle, he sometimes lacking in technique with his vertical sets, especially against speed rushers. If they line up in a wide 9 position and scream off the edge, he can get lost trying to punch and reset.

Whereas I think that's La'el's best trait, he has a really good punch and ability to stay balanced. And towards the end of the year learned to punch with his right hand better, and play disciplined. When La'el stays disciplined and doesn't try to pancake his opponent every play, he's a top RT.

Guard for sure. He has shorter arms and the NFL transition is a bit easier.

Look at the guys Collins faced last year? Deserves a raise for holding it down

Garrett seemed pretty adamant that they thought OG was his best position. He did say some of their scouts thought he could play OT.

Personally I'd prefer Conner at right tackle and move Collins back to guard, Conner has much better footwork and balance to play tackle than Collins who is more powerful to play guard and gets to the second level inside, he'd be a stud at guard and just an average tackle, speed guys outside gives him problems .......But I'm guessing Dallas will start Conner out at left guard and leave Collins at right tackle..for now!

It’s a good problem to have!

I just can't get over how much depth we now how on our lines

Highly doubt they're going to shuffle Collins back to G after how he improved over last year at RT, and start a rookie at RT. Especially with defenses lining up their best pass rushers at LE more often

Consensus was Connor was probably moving inside in the pros

Line is set now, with depth.

I agree with you.

I was in the move Collins back to LG camp up until the draft pick last night

Cowboys said they like his flexibility and will move him around for 3-4 years till his contract is up by which time a team who signs him as a free agent will be able to determine his position.

Leave Collins at RT, did you all see the players he played last year? he will progress and he wont be facing those type of players as often this year. our line has a chance to be really better than 2016. I love Jason Witten but him leaving could force the coaches to change the playbook some, we need more creativity and we are fine. BTW our 3rd round pick is the pic I'm most excited about.
