What would be considered a successful season for the Boys?

Option A - Playoffs
Option B - Playoff win
Option C - NFC Championship Appearance
Option D - Super Bowl Appearance
Option E - Super Bowl Championship

Given our great additions this offseason I'd go with Option C.

NFC Championship. Anything less would be disappointing.

I'd be happy with a playoff win and an honorable loss somewhere after. Not like what happend against the Vikes.

Fanatic in me wants SB victory every year, but in the spirit of Coach Garrett one step at a time preaching, i will take playoff appearance.

Option C - NFC Championship

If we got there and lost in respectable fashion (No blowouts or epic chokes) then I would be pretty happy.

Should have been a poll thread.

Two playoff wins.

Either wildcard and divisional, or divisional and championship game.

I'm tired of staring at a single playoff win since I was in my 20's.

NFC Championship Game. I've never personally seen the Cowboys advance beyond the divisional round in my life.

I think we've got the makings of a good run, but success for me will be winning the division.

I'll second this ^^^ winning the NFC East will be no small feat this year, if they can pull that off I think a playoff win is almost automatic.

Ditto. The defense has to carry the offense, and protect the leads the offense creates. Last year too many times the defense lost the game.

B would be fairly successful season but yeah C is what I'm looking for.

I agree, it starts with winning the division.

Win the SB

Nothing else matters

you can win all the divisions you want....all the playoff games......you dont win the Big One......it all means nothing IMHO

If 40% of teams that made the playoffs fail to make it next year....then what does making the playoffs and winning say a lousy playoff game prove?

With FA ....who knows what is going to happen the next season. The only real shot you have in making the playoffs is to have a franchise QB or play in a division that sucks so bad that you win it by default.

That never happens in the NFC East.

So for me........Win the Super Bowl.....everything else is a disappointment.

Dont get me wrong....I love watching the Cowboys....get excited watching them....even when they are out of playoff contention.

But at the end of the year.....If we dont win it all......overall the year was a disappointment.

I think there are different levels of success. When the franchise has not seen the NFC Championship in years going from 8-8 to NFC Championship game is a pretty big leap. If we make it to that game I think the season is a bit of a success and a big indicator of the progress that was made. Of course I'm disappointed with any loss even so making it to the NFC Championship game and losing would be disappointing in the bigger picture it would still be a good season.

Championship...anything else would be draining...heartbreaking, and make me even more hungry...which is bad since it would be only Jan or Feb

I understand.....

I just dont see making the playoffs and winning a playoff game as progress anymore......years past....I did. Teams were allowed to keep their players longer...build ...develope...etc

But nowadays with FA....you can go from worst to first in no time and vise versa.

Im always thinking positive and hoping for a good season and Im a cup half full kind of fan....I guess having good season is great and all.....but imho...nothing but the SB is success....

JMHO ....
