I've surfed this thread enough to realize this won't be the most popular thread among those clamoring for a QB with the first pick, but Dak Prescott is the real deal. It appears the Cowboys FO thinks so too. I wont get too into he's accolades, but I will say he had a great season at Miss State playing against some of the toughest defenses in the nation within the powerhouse SEC conference. In 13 games last year, he threw for almost 3,800 yards, 29 TDs, 5 ints, and rushed for another 10 TDs. To read more:

Look, I understand the concern about our back-up QB situation, but the fact is..we already have a top 10, if not, top 5 QB in Romo. There are a lot of teams that would love to have Romo as there starter and continue to build around him (see Denver). The divide amongst fans is, how much longer he'll play. Well, no matter what side of the fence your on, it dosent change what the FO believes. With that said, the back up QB will be addressed through the draft. This is fairly obvious, as the Cowboys have worked out just about every possible QB available.
I personally believe the Cowboys really like Wentz. Problem is, just like Free Agency, they're not willing to over-spend. I think the Cowboys liked Wentz when he was a small college QB with great potential. I don't think they thought he'd shoot up draft boards and b projected to be the #2 over-all pick. See, the thing is...I, like the Cowboys, still believe that Romo & the gang have a shot at the SB and really want to continue to build the team accordingly.
That leads me to Dak Prescott. The Cowboys have visited with Dak several times already and have obvious real interest. And they should. Daks resume speaks for itself. He has a strong arm, very mobile, and has beat some of the best college programs in the nation. If you could put Russell Wilson and Cam Newton together, you'd have Dak Prescott (w/o the arrogance from Cam). Look, I traditionally am "pro-pocket" QB only, but Newton and Wilson have proved they can win in the NFL. My bottomline, I honestly don't think any of the "pocket" passing QBs in this draft have the pedigree to be a "day 1" starter. Good thing, if the Cowboys FO is correct, hopefully we don't need any of these QBs to start their rookie season. But, I still believe in Romo and want to give him everyshot to hoist the Lombardy. We need impact players that will start and unfortunately that usually means investing premiuim draft picks.
That said,I believe Prescott makes a lot of sense in the mid rounds. He would instantly be better than any of the other QBs we rolled out last year. If Dallas chooses to build the DL like they built the OL (because this game is won in the trenches), then grabbing Dak isn't a bad idea. This latest write up on him is a good read.
