What's going to happen with Dalton?

What do you think?

He is probably going to get at the very least the same deal he got last year which was about 7 million.

Will he be back in Dallas for another 1 year deal?

Or is he signing elsewhere and getting a longer contract that is worth more?

I'm leaning towards him headed to a new team and hoping we get a 5th round comp pick in exchange for letting him walk (if the front office is frugal in free agency).

Dalton could and should go start somewhere else. He’s not a great starter but better than some and the league has a huge lack of QBs now. He could end up in WFT.
Whoa... great thought Dalton to WFT. That would be awesome for the Cowboys.

He's looking for a starting job somewhere else. I doubt he comes back to the Cowboys only to be a backup.

I'd rather save the 7 million and use that on a decent T or DT. Let's roll with GG as our backup. Dak has been durable his whole career and one freak play ended his season. I'm not too concerned with him being an injury prone guy. Also a comp pick would be great in next years draft.

My first guess is that he signs with the WFT.
My second guess is that Houston trades Watson for a boatload of picks and then signs Dalton.
My third guess would be the Jets if they trade Darnold.
My fourth guess would be Denver.
My fifth guess is Garrett picks him up as a backup.

He wasn’t very good. I’d like to see more of Gilbert.

I seriously doubt he ends up a starter ANYWHERE on day 1. Maybe later in the year after some injuries he might, but he’s just not that good. Love the guy, especially his wife, but he’s just not very good.

Hell land somewhere that 1) has a legit shot at a SB as a backup 2) Has just drafted a rookie and are unsure about starting 3) The Jets

Exactly what I was thinking as well (that he ends up in Washington).

I don’t disagree but we will have to wait and see how many starting QB vacancies there are. I don’t think he’s that good either but I don’t think about half the league starters currently are either. Could see him go a team with a non-top 5 drafted QB and start first few games as a placeholder. I could see him go to WFT, Houston, Chicago, or Sanfran and be an upgrade right now but will depend on how all the FA and draft dominos fall.
Could also be openings in NYJ, NO,...Carolina could be up for grabs...or someone else has a serious injury....I think he will have options

If Dallas wants a little insurance for the beginning of the season as in Dak might not be quite ready then they should hang on to Dalton. If they are looking at a backup to take over if Dak goes down again then I would just throw whoever out there and admit the season is done.

It’s laughable some fans expectations of a backup QB. Especially, when considering it was his first year with the team, during an abbreviated offseason/camp during the pandemic.

Folks are acting like Dalton was Matt Cassel, Kellen Moore, or Brad Johnson.

Gimme a guy like Dalton as a backup any day versus trotting out DiNucci or Cooper Rush.

We can't afford to pay him to ride the bench. We need our investments on the field. This team isn't ready for some magical playoff run. They still trying to win 8 games.

Dak is rehabbing a broken ankle.

if he can’t play, we need a QB.

it’s worth the insurance payment to keep Dalton.

Then we shouldn't have paid him. If dak isn't available we need to lose anyway. If we only saw more mooch last year we'd be drafting #2 or 3.

Cut jaylon and play dalton at lber. Hed be way less embarrassing the jaylon is. Disgrace to the #54. Cant believe Jerry signed him.!!
