What's going to make this offense click

We saw just a little taste of it tonight, but the real key to this offense is going to be Martellus Bennett and Felix Jones. We have a 2nd TE and a 2nd RB that are better than probably 20+ teams' starters.

The depth of options on this offense is mind bottling (hat tip SP).

Oh, look, dumpoff to the back? 12 yards. TE peels off into the flat? 7 yard pickup, guaranteed.

I thought Felix looked phenomenal. That one run to the left where he picked his way for about 15 or 20 yards just rocked.

If he stays healthy, he's going to tie defenses in knots this year.

Prediction on Bennett: You won't be able to name but 10-12 better tight ends than him by season's end.

As for your post, you're absolutely right. This year's offense is about spreading the ball around, something that couldn't happen last year due to some of the personnel. We certainly have the talent to move it around.

10-12? Maybe not even 4-5.

other than qb the most important positions we have no depth(o-line) but as far as weapons go you are correct.

That may be overrating him a little bit.

He's gotta get it done first.
Maybe so. But I can say I've never seen a player quite like him, with his size, speed, hands and agility.

Someone will probably say Gates, but he doesn't have the size like Bennett has.

Gates weighs the same but is 2 inches shorter.

Not trying to sound like a smart***, but we've all known this for sometime now.

I've been saying the same thing since April. It's good to have the talent that we have, it is a unique talent compared to the rest of the league.

Not sure why you'd "know." We hadn't seen much evidence, beyond sheer potential, until this training camp and now in this game. We knew they had potential, but both players, Bennett in particular, have taken MAJOR strides in development and are ready to take on huge roles in the offense.

Gates is much faster though.

Correct, you never "know" but going off what I saw last year combined with the release of TO and it was pretty easy to see the direction we were taking IMO.

During the "doom and gloom" phase of this board (which didnt seem to end untill May) I was constantly saying how good of an offense we would be because of those two, and of course how Trent Green passed for 4000 yards 3 straight years with a no name No. 1 receiver.

But you're right, these two players development has them ready to take on huge roles, and with the talent of them, will hopefully be lighting it up on Sundays.

I never really saw Bennett getting it last year. I thought he was one of those guys that has a ton of potential but didn't have the will power to turn it into being a productive NFL player. Now, he looks disciplined and completely in sync with the offense. He was a total clown before and after practice, but once he's on the field, it's all business.

Losing TO and the poor play of the O-line had me seriously worried about this offense.

I dont think he "got" it mentally, but with Witten and the coaches, I was counting on him getting it. And of course, he's always had it physically.

The thing that sucks, (for me anyway) is he was the #2 rated TE coming out of high school. The number one TE and 5th overall in the nation was Tony Moeaki who committed to Iowa. He's been injury plagued his entire career at Iowa never getting to showcase his potential, while MartyB is making millions playing for America's Team.

Felix and MartyB looked good no doubt....but what's gonna keep this offense ticking is the OL. Any significant injuries to the line and we are SKUH-ROOOOD

Given what we saw tonight should we put Jones, Barber, Witten, Bennett, and one wr on the field for most plays?

You can say that again. SKUH-ROOOOD.
