Whats missing? a DB and pass rush

I'd try to make a baseball-like, pennant-run, trade like acquiring Charles Woodson from the hapless Raiders. His $1.15M base salary is not that bad and he'd help out at Free Safety. His leadership and experience wouldn't hurt either.

This is the dumbest thing I've read all year. This isn't video games where you move a guy and he goes from an 84 overall to an 81 overall and can still play. The positions are different. And Wilcox is fine for now. 2nd year player. You guys want to cut everyone (including Scandrick once upon a time) without letting young players develop.

The difference is that Moore came into the league at safety and played the position on a team that went to the Super Bowl.

Last I checked, Moore was pretty young and I never once suggested cutting another promising strong safety in Wilcox. Also, the CB to safety thing is not a new concept pimp. See Antrell Rolle, Ronnie Lott, Rod Woodson, Malcolm Jenkins and others. Now go back to your hole and learn NFL history and learn to read/comprehend buddy.

Looks like they all must suck? I'm not talking about giving up a ton to get him. I'd think the Raiders would take a late round draft pick versus playing out a losing season and losing him for nothing. I think Woodson would bring a ton here too. Leadership, experience, actual coverage skills at the Safety position.

Yea, I've watched them twice. Their whole team sucks, including him. He would make no difference on the back end.

Those stats aren't worth comparing b/c the Raiders have played against 4 of the worst offenses in football. Not to mention the fact that he's moved around a bunch and put in different spots, which he would hardly ever be doing here. Your nuts if you think putting him over the top - when he can no longer run - would make him an improvement on this defense.

if you are looking next year i think a cb would be nice so we could move on from carr. a rt would be nice so we don't have to pay a ton to free. but the biggest needs is another edge rusher. lawrence could be one, maybe. but even though spencer seems to be coming along you still want to find his replacement. and you can't have too many pass rushers

I actually prefer being short on DE than DT if we have to miss something.
I watched DWare get a great pass rush way too often where the QB simply stepped up, letting Ware run around deep, and his rush meant nothing.

It's much more effective to get that push up the middle. That push is in the QBs face; no one likes it; it pushes the QB off his spot, changes his window, and gives mediocre DEs a chance to simply clean up.

Loved watching Charles Woodson over the years going all the way back to Michigan:

• Only defender to win the Heisman trophy
• Won a Championship at Michigan
• NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year
• NFL Defensive Player of the Year
• Superbowl Champion
• Boat-loads of Probowls and All-Pros

Having said that, Chuck is completely and utterly done and frankly that was obvious two years ago when the Packers cut him.
