This year I splurged and got a pre-cooked "Holiday dinner" from Kroger. Roast turkey (whole) gravy with giblets, gravy with out giblets, dinner rolls, corn, peas, a rice cheese and broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, olives, salad, cornbread dressing and a sugar free pumpkin and a apple pie. It's all heat and eat. I plan to start eating at halftime, and continue the entire second half. :)

I'll be having Thanksgiving Day dinner at the hotel, normally they have everything you could think of from Turkey, Ham and Roast beef along with all the sides. Then off to the game.

T-day is my day to cook the entire meal with the understanding that when the last fork hits the last empty plate, my job is done. Wife and kids clean the table and the dishes and kitchen while I sit and watch TV. With that said I will be making...

Roast Turkey with stuffing (From scratch)

Fresh Cranberry sauce

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Roasted pepper corn

String beans (My oldest daughter insists on this)

Cream Cheese mashed potatoes

Chocolate pecan pie.

Hot Biscuits

Now I'm real hungry.

Wow. That's pretty impressive.

Cooking is not an option since I'm hosting a BBQ on Sat. So I'm going visiting my surrogate family. I assume it'll be like last year.

Turkey
Cornbread dressing
giblet gravy
cranberry sauce
Greens
Homemade macaroni and cheese
Yams
Rolls

A couple cakes. I'm not sure if there will be pie. Maybe I'll buy one just to be sure.

I've never had Dominican food. IS it much like Mexican food?

Kilyin bought a deep fryer this year, since he and his brother have been talking about having deep fried turkey for the past few years. Can't wait to try that.

We'll also be having:

Cornbread stuffing
Corn pudding
Green bean casserole
Sweet potato casserole (with the marshmallows)
Cranberry sauce
Deviled eggs
Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie

Not really sure to be honest....but our Thanksgiving meals usually look something like this:

Roasted Turkey
Honey Ham
Real mashed potatoes
Stuffing
Cranberry sauce
Green beans
Roasted corn
Apple Pie
Ice cream

....and my Gravy. It's so damn good, I once caught one of my idiot college rugby buddies DRINKING a glass of it the morning after Thanksgiving. Which is even odder considering the size of the chunks of meat in it. Seriously.

We do have a leg of lamb in the freezer though.....

my mom's outta town for the first time EVER on Thanksgiving and my dad's going somewhere else (I'm 25, live alone in an apt)

so, my brother's coming over and I bought a crockpot and we'll be crockpotting chili and making some pasta on the side (yep, it's random)

also - the most important item on the menu - BEER/WINE!

Have you ever had Chili over pasta? It is really good. Kicks up the spaghetti a bit.

I'm roasting a boned turkey breast this afternoon and making a half dozen turkey, dressing and chipotle-cranberry relish Dagwood sandwiches to take to the tailgate tomorrow.

I only have six family members in town this year, so tomorrow night I'm doing a bone-in, center cut rack of pork on the rotisserie. The rest of the accompaniments I left to them, so I'm in the dark.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Thanksgiving.

Good grief.

You're only 3 and a half hours away. Maybe I'll come up there.

Oh, and love red chile with holiday meals this time of year. Mmmmmmm.

Care to share your secret?

I make white gravy fairly often, but I don't know how to make good brown gravy or giblet gravy.
