CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
Best Concert:
Prince - Musicology
Patti Labelle
Luther Vandross/En Vogue
Boys II Men - Evolution Tour
Jill Scott
Fugees

Pretty good SHOW
Puffy and the Bad Boy Family - I think the one after Biggie died. He and Mase were doing the "shiny suit" thing.

Great SHOW
Janet Jackson - Not a huge fan of her music nor her voice, but the lady puts on a GREAT show. I've seen her twice in concert.

And to just be different. I went to the Original Kings of Comedy show. It was much better live than the movie showed.

I've been to others, but can't think of 'em right now.

Saw Garth Brooks twice. He puts on the best show I've ever seen. You go through every emotion imaginable.

One minute you're singing with him at the top of your lungs to "Friends in Low Places." In the next minute he's got the whole audience listening as he explains why the song needs a new verse. He sings the new verse and the crowd explodes.

While the energy is still through the roof, the lights go down and the band is gone and he's alone on the stage with just an accoustic guitar. You can't imagine so many people can be so quiet as he sings a ballad like "The River" with just a single spotlight on him.

The band comes back before the cheers die down and they launch into a fast song like "Rodeo" where Garth can play to the crowd and amp them up again.

You don't have to be a country music fan to enjoy his concerts. You just have to like energy because that's what he brings. It doesn't matter where your seats are you will get your money's worth.

I wish he'd un-retire.

Easy, no thought about it, Nirvana, 1993. I've been to alot of shows over the years, but hands down, no competition. I've never seen a band do so much with nothing. Just three guys on a stage with no props whatsoever, and the most over the top show I have ever seen, purely musical and emotion driven. Still rings with me today.

Now a distant second and about the most contrasting style to the above mention you could possibly come up with---Marilyn Manson on the GGG World Tour. Tied with Motley Crue on the Feelgood Tour in 89'---which was also my first concert ever.

I haven't been to many but I'd have to say Clapton. The first part of the show was the new stuff from his album but the second half was his classic stuff. It would have been much better if I wasn't one row from the top of the stadium :(

Ween, Toronto 2000. They played for about 3 hours and blew the roof off the place. Buenos Tardes Amigos, The Blarney Stone, ReggaeJunkyJew, and Push The Little Daisies were among the highlights.

After that, I have to mention the Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/Neil Young show, Toronto, 1993; any Rheostatics show; Red Hot Chili Peppers' free show on Yonge St; and Soundgarden again in 1994.

Recently saw Spoon (from Austin), which was great and last week I saw Supergrass, also very good.

Run-DMC, LL Cool J in late 80s.

Prince a couple of times. ((Prince has been both awesome and kinda sucked in the 5 or 6 times I have seen him; depends on if he plays his older stuff which is his better stuff and his energy level which is normally off the charts high like Mick Jagger))

Garth Brooks. Ok at the time I hated country music(it has since grown on me in limited doses but there were so many hot girls in tight, tight blue jeans I really couldn't have cared less if he would have squaked some achy breaky heart stuff while playing a yukelele. :)

Eric B and Rakim. Some small club in NYC in 19887 or 88. They were not ultra famous back then and Rakim still had a high gumby cut but they were loved in nyc. Lots of tough guys were just amazed and there was no fighting do drama of any kind.

Jon B. Again he plays kinda sappy chick music that is just OK but I was approached by tons of chicks that thought I was him(which happened because I was the only other white guy in the place).

Lollapolalooza. Ice Cube was great with Wicked and Today is a Good Day. So many different things going on at once made it a serious ADHD crowd show. Some of the bands were over the top and the sideshow guys were serious freaks. One dude had piercings in sensitive ummm places and then attached them to heavy weights. YIKES!!!! And water was 5 bucks for 8 ounces:(:(

Lesson learned. Chicks make up for less than great listening experiences.

I hold the microphone like a grudge
B'll hold the record so the needle don't budge
I hold a conversation cause when I invent
I nominated, my DJ, "The Presdient"
When I see you I'll, kick a freestyle, goin steadily
So pucker up, and whistle "My Melody"
But whatever you do, don't miss one
There'll be another rough rhyme after this one
Before you know it, you're followin and fiendin
Waiting for the punchline, to get the meanin
Like before, the middle of my story I'm tellin
Nobody beats the R, so stop yellin
Save it, put it in your pocket for later
Cause I'm "Moving the Crowd," and B'll wreck the fader
No interruptions 'til the mic is broke
When I'm gone... then you can joke!
Cause everything is real on a serious tip
Keep playin, and I get furious quick
And I'll take you for a walk through hell
Feed your dome -- then watch your eyeballs swell
Guide you out of triple stage darkness
When it get dark again... then I'ma spark this
microphone, cause the heat is on, you see smoke
And I'm finished when the beat is gone, I'm no joke {*echoes*}

...1985 in Minneapolis. Stayed on the stage for four hours. Stage hands dragged him off as he was swinging his guitar at them.

He didn't want to quit and he played every instrument. Played a few songs twice while playing another instrument. A tour de force on his genius as a musician. Showed that he isn't just another rock star, but also has that innate composer capability.

Andrea Boticelli in 1989 Ottawa NAC. Early beginnings of the blind man tenor and his fabulous voice. Overlooked at the time by the giants of Pavarotti and such, but humble and talented.

Came into the audience and spent time talking to the people. Shook everyone's hand as they left the concert hall.
