...you ever made on a Cowboys win?

I've had a lot of crazy bets but the craziest is a no brainer. I was in college and worked evenings at a sporting goods store. There were 4 of us who worked there and the other 3 were all High School buddies who happened to hate the Cowboys.

Andy was a Packers fan.

Marc was a 49ers fan.

Chris was a Bills fan.

Dallas was the defending Super Bowl Champion (XXVII).

In the Divisional Playoffs we faced Green Bay. Andy and I were discussing a bet. Marc suggested that we bet each a "bust in the chops." The winner got to hit the loser right in the mouth. Chris loved the idea, and Marc was insistent it was a great bet.

Andy wasn't as hip to the idea. I have to admit, I wasn't either, but I was confident. I said I'd take the bet. Andy never went for it. We ended up making a bet that the other had to wear the winner's cap for the coming week.

Dallas beat Green Bay and Andy got to wear a Cowboys cap at work for the whole week.

Next up was San Francisco. Marc could put up or shut up. Now Andy was bringing up the "bust in the chops" bet. Chris still loved the idea. Marc was a great smack talker BTW. He did tend to get a little hot under the collar if you talked it back and got the best of him. Dallas had beat the 49ers in the NFC Championships the year before. During the regular season we had won again. I had scoreboard.

Marc was getting more and more riled up and he finally decided he wanted to bust me in the chops really bad. We made the bet.

Dallas won.

So it was time for Marc to pay up. The rules of this bust in the chops were that you had to punch from your shoulder or the length of your arm, and you had to be squared up to the target. In other words no big time winging roundhouse punches.

So Marc braced for the punch and I busted him in the chops.

I turned to Chris and asked him if he wanted to make the same bet since he had felt for 2 weeks that it was a great bet. Chris was not at all interested.

I guess I hit Marc pretty hard.

I dated this chick who was a Commanders fan... I know, crazy. Anyway, the Commanders played the Cowboys on Monday night football pretty early in the season and she was just sure Dallas would lose. I thought they'd win.

Dallas won.

Well, I can't really say what we bet but let's just say that we were up long after the game had ended. She never made that bet again.

I'd love to be able to give the details, but as a family oriented site... I can't even begin to explain the intimate details of how the bet was structured.

You asked.

I bet 30 bucks that Juluis Jones would have a better season than Clinton Portis.

I'm not completely sure some people's imagination runs quite this wild.

Quite a gal. And she paid her debt in full and then some. :D

I won a similar bet once a long time ago. Thanks for jogging the memory. ;)

I bet my buddy 200$ that the Commanders wouldn't win more than 5 games this year, and promised him another 100$ if they made the playoffs.

Bet a Cowboys buddy of mine 10 bucks per point in the second meeting this season. I made out fairly well.

That one is easy for me. November 1991 I was shooting my mouth off at work that we were back and going all the way. No one was taking me seriously until I said I would be willing to bet. One guy stepped up immediately. A Cowboy hater (of course.) This was before the Thanksgiving game mind you. I said we would win the super bowl and gave him the field. It was only for a 6 pack of beer but the bet was on. Two months later we had our third trophy and my buddy paid off. He said the was the best bet he had ever seen in his life.

It usually works out the other way though. I've never lost one of those bets because I almost always take the field.

Calling a super bowl champion before Thanksgiving in any year is doing pretty good. Especially if it a team that isn't really expected to be there. I am pretty proud of that one.

Not a bet, but I did turn down a threesome once (yes it was with two girls) to watch the Cowboys lose to the Dolphins on thanksgiving (pretty sure it was the Leon Lett game).

Yes, I feel stupid for doing it (or not doing it, technically).
