Whats the delay in IR designations?

Does the team have to wait to designate Brown and Jones ( and hopefully not Frederick) to IR ?

They can do it now.

The IR concept primarily came from the DC.com media guys (i.e. Broaddus and crew).

I don't know if the team ever actually indicated that that any of those players would go to IR.

The cut of Price makes me wonder if D.Jones is going to return soon.

No need to IR them if you think they will be back sooner rather than later and you don’t need the roster spot. They can just be inactive until they are ready to go.

Could be waiting until other teams get there rosters set. So they can see who may be available. Not sure what is behind that strategy, or to see if other team cut any players in the next week or so. No need to rush here, as would just be inactive week one anyway.

Maybe they will be close to returning 100% too.

Carolina placed Matt Kahil on IR today, it's on the ESPN NFL transaction wire.

I was also wondering if they had to officially wait until Monday to do it as well, because I've read that being the case several times.
