What's the latest on Trystan Hill?

Trysten Hill, DT
At this point, it seems unlikely that defensive tackle Trysten Hill will make the team’s 53-man roster at the end of August. Starting his first training camp under Dan Quinn on the Physically Unable to Perform list, it appears to be a strong possibility that Hill could start the regular season on the PUP list as well. But that may only delay his eventual judgment day.

Delay judgment day, but reduce the odds Hill survives judgment day. A 4th year player drafted by the former regime who is still development has very little going for him, and much against him.

Showed flashes before injury last year?

On some particular plays he looked like an NFL player. Sometimes you guess right. Sometimes they guess wrong. The stars will align for a good play every so often even for bad players.

His PFF was 34. That's just sad.

PFF is garbage.

Hill is only in his 3rd year.. and he probably has the most physical talent of any DT on the roster. The rush to get rid of him is misguided. The Cowboys need to develop that kid.. the end result could be a monster. It's not like they have Donald and Suh in front of him.

I was talking about if they PUP/IR Hill for the year. Then, next year, he's in his 4th year.

I doubt they keep him on IR all year. Defensive linemen go down with to high a frequency for the Cowboys to be stashing any. Unless three or four of the guys who are active turn into Mean Joe and Bob Lilly, the Cowboys have sufficient investment and incentive to continue to develop Hill.

You're Star Blind, Rocky.

Most folks here know the amount of times I’ve blasted “Amber” for the craziness. WTBS, you’re the exact same person except on the other side of the spectrum.
The problem with him, no balance.
The problem with you, no balance.

I’ll ask you the same questions just in reverse. I asked him what players and coaches he has issues with. I’ll ask you, what players and coaches do you like? He’s a pumper and you’re an Eagles fan. You both have ego problems . He expresses his by being a homer, you express yours by being negative about every Cowboys player or subject. However, you’re probably looked at worse here than he is because we have all grown to accept is Cowboys homerism. You on the other hand might as well buy a Jalen Hurts jersey and sing the eagle fight song.

I don't believe certain players walk on water so I must be an Eagles fan, is that it?

I have that, apparently, very rare ability of both liking players and being realistic about them. I like Dak. I like Zeke. I like Gregory. I won't pretend they are more than they are though. I don't really care how that makes me look. I refuse to suspend reality just because they happen to be on my favorite team.

Do I believe somebody like Dak gives us the best chance to win with the other QBs currently available? Yes
Does that mean I have to somehow defend him at all costs, pretend he's more than he is, and elevate him because he's the best option for us? No, it doesn't.

Tristen is recovering from an untimely knee injury that came in an up and down 3-year stint with Dallas. His future with Dallas is in doubt. :omg:

The context for PUP/IR for Hill was Carlos playing well and the Cowboys preferring to roll with him rather than bring Hill back.

Anyone ever read what I write?
Yeah, I know Hill is only in his third year. I was talking about our attitudes to Hill next year. Hill is undeveloped and *maybe* has a year and a half of play time left. Very likely just a year.
I don't think we cut him, but he's an undeveloped short timer. We'd be better off spending development snaps elsewhere. DT will be a big need again next year, and a likely high draft pick. Better to give Gallimore and New DT snaps than Hill, in his final year. We'll use him for rotation, but there's little sense in developing him for the rest of the league.
If they like Hill, he would be a prime candidate for a cheapo extension. If he takes it, he gets development snaps because *we* will benefit from that investment in snaps. If he doesn't, we know he's heading for free agency and a bad investment of development snaps.
