Come on man, the referees are throwing flags, we've all seen them in the training camp footage. What I haven't seen, or read about is the head coach ripping into players because of it. It might be time for some *** chewing and pulling players out of the lineup when they screw up.

It's been said you play as you practice. We've seen flags in training camp and now in games, so we know this to be true. What we need to see is accountability, something we fans have been clamoring for for years. If there's no improvement

The frustration occurs when you have this extra staff, but you still get false start and illegal motion/shift penalties.

What are some of these kids who are on the bubble thinking? The difference between you having even a chance of being considered on the 53 would be based not only on talent, but your football smarts and ability to pick up the playbook.

If they can't be trusted to know the plays and play within the rules, then why keep that 3rd or 4th stringer in favour of one who has less talent, but knows their way around a football field for the 2-4 plays they get per game.

I can be accepting of the penalties that occur in the heat of battle, but I have very little patience for penalties that occur befroe the ball is snapped.

Definitely a valid question. I hope there will be serious discussion between McFlab and the Cowboy group of refs conducting the Cowboy practices.
I don't care if they need to pay them extra for the refs to teach classroom/film penalty do's and don'ts.

Assuming they are not already doing that.

If they are already being taught in this way then there's really nothing more you can do.

We seem to have a lot of refs at practice, are they not telling us about the penalties and what they see?? You can't tell me that all they see is great blocking etc etc, and we get out in a game and look like this. Please give me your thoughts on these refs
Does not seem to have helped at all.
There is some type of issues here, :
Possible poor technique being taught?
Poor players?
Poor coaching?
Combination of the above?

I disagree using "the heat if the battle" situations to excuse players' actions that result in penalties.
Most of these guys have been in the sport since early grade school age.
They've faced opponents who goad them on- trash talk \ do underhanded things on the field to get them off their focus.
Or - they've faced a player who is superior in executing their assignments to their preventing them.
No need to commit infractions because one is overmatched, or frustrated with the opponent skirting the rules and not getting caught... or letting them get under one's skin.

Its pretty clear that with a lot of these guys they would rather take the chance of not getting called on the penalty then actually getting beat. What you need is better players that dont have to cheat in order to win.

I guess I should have been more clear on my point.

"Heat of the battle" for me is the "competitive" situation. You can't expect to win every play, and sometimes the opponent across the line gets the better of you so all you can do is tip your hat, or engage in an infraction to save your QB.

Now getting angry like Fowler did and shoving someone right in front of the ref that is just discipline and nothing to do with a combative situation where you lost due to talent, power and technique.

We want to scrub out and reduce the non-combative infractions.

It would be very handsome in pay, if they're paid by the number of flags thrown.

it is called window dressing to give the impression that we’re doing everything we can except what should actually be done
