What's the Point of Having Referee's at Practice

We seem to have a lot of refs at practice, are they not telling us about the penalties and what they see?? You can't tell me that all they see is great blocking etc etc, and we get out in a game and look like this. Please give me your thoughts on these refs

Coogs, great job at bringing up an excellent point. Unless I’ve missed a previous thread, I don’t believe anybodys touched on this subject. The theory of having them is a good one but perhaps they should bring in referee Steele and Huchulis Jrs officiating crews to point out all the ticky-tack, questionable, phantom calls that will be called on them in the regular season as well

We complained years ago that the Packers never got called for holding. We now have the same coach who taught them the techniques here in Dallas. Different results, because of the reputation Dallas has for penalties.
Winner Winner chicken dinner. I've been saying the same for a while.

My tinfoil hat conspiracy theory is this...

Smith will allow refs to screw us over in close games...just call questionable holding calls on him.

"Hes a known holder" they will claim.

Hes the perfect out for the system

This is EXACTLY a the empirical evidence that the number and timing of calls going against the Cowboys is more than just bias or theory. Same coach and discipline for both both teams but diametrically opposed reactions by the refs

the players are always a variable to be factored in but the Raiders are the poster child of referee perception bias. 10+ different coaches since Madden and over a thousand different players but low and behold almost always among the leaders in penalties and timing of penalties.

I’ve watched Dakota and Romo have to gain 140 gross yards to complete an 80 yard game winning drive many times. We’ve all seen that 3rd and 15 pass for a first down get called back by a call that even the announcers and cameramen can’t find. Followed by a TD recalled because our center moved his head just like every other center does and it called illegal motion.

There is no point because come game time you can throw all the rules out when the Cowboys play.

Come on man, the referees are throwing flags, we've all seen them in the training camp footage. What I haven't seen, or read about is the head coach ripping into players because of it. It might be time for some *** chewing and pulling players out of the lineup when they screw up.

It's been said you play as you practice. We've seen flags in training camp and now in games, so we know this to be true. What we need to see is accountability, something we fans have been clamoring for for years. If there's no improvement

 We storm the castle at dawn!
No way to hide anything, even for Jerry, after this weekend.

QBs are not allowed to get hit during practice so what is roughing and what is not can only be shown via film. As to holding it really depends on the ref. Though pre-snap penalties are bad remember there are a lot of young guys and vets trying to make a roster and sometimes their heads are more on what they need to do than the finer aspects of snap count. Not saying it is an excuse but those are the facts.

Every coach I've been around at any level has had to address penalties at some point.
Every coach has handled it in a week maybe 2
. .
MM has let it run for 3 seasons.
No excuses, he's a fraud along with his OL coach buddy.
Bring on Quinn

Oh I got this answer......... the reason you put referees in at the practices is the visual. It makes it appear as if action is being taken to combat the penalty problem. Jerry and Mike and can stand there and declare they have addressed the problem.

Do the teams ask for the referees or does the NFL provide them to help with nuances that seem to be added to the rules every year?
