Does anybody know what the scouting report is on Brooke Bollinger coming out of college and how he faired in the NFL as a QB?

Can he better than Brad Johnson given the fact Brooke was not here for TC?

Here's a 2003 draft/scouting report on the man of mystery ... (he was sixth round pick by the way) ... courtesy nfl.com

ANALYSIS
Positives: Has a well-developed, yet compact frame … Shows quick feet in his drop and set, getting good depth … Can put decent zip behind his release … Has above average arm strength and can make the long throws … More accurate on the underneath tosses with average accuracy on his deep ball … Shows good touch on fade routes, screens and short throws … Gets good movement in the pocket and can find the rush lane when forced to scramble (school's all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks) … Will sit in the pocket and step up to make his throws, showing good toughness under pressure.

Negatives:

More of an option-style quarterback who seems to lack the passing skills for the next level … Does not have ideal arm strength and shows only marginal timing and accuracy on his deep tosses … Has very poor mechanics, dropping his elbow in his release, throwing more with a sidearm motion … Sometimes misses reads and throws to areas where his receivers are not occupying … Too hot and cold — can get rattled under pressure at times and then keep his cool to move the team downfield … Moves too soon and looks to run at the first sign of pressure; needs to stand taller in the pocket rather than looking to run … Concussion and a couple of liver injuries are a concern … His deep ball seems to float … Prone to taking sacks, as he tends to wait too long for the route to develop rather than look for his secondary targets.

Everybody's been comparing BJ's last 10 starts to Bollinger's ... roughly equal stats .. so people are saying "start BJ, at least he knows the playbook" etc. ...

But I don't know if this is a good sample of Brad's skills nowadays ...

You've got to figure that from age 38 to 40, your skills and physical ability have eroded even further ...

The best sample we have of BJ is what we have the last two games, not the last ten.

Bollinger, on the other hand, is pretty young and his arm and legs are pretty much what they were with the Jets and Vikes.

I would take just about any Div 1 QB over BJ right now, seriously.

We are going to get freaking smoked by the G-men if BJ is the QB.

Even the team knows it, that is how obvious it is now.

Decent mobililty (and he will need it if he is put in), below average arm, Drew Tate size and ducks waiting to happen.

again....i question why EITHER of these guys are here if the SUCK this bad! I mean we are overloaded everywhere on this team....except at backup QB. Sure the backup is not going to be as good as the starter.....but with all the talent on this team...with all the experience on this coaching staff.....we should at LEAST be able to score 17 - 19 points with whomever we bring in to be the backup. And now all I hear from the organization, media, fans are excuses as to why we just need to hang in there until Romo gets back!

Our OL depth sucks (or Adams would not be playing right now with 1 arm) and our talent at LB is questionable at best, especially the guys on the bench. I do have hope with Spencer though, assuming he can get healthy and stay that way.

FWIW, Jerry was on the Musers this morning, and didn't commit to a starter.

He hemmed and hawed around as is his wont.

Basically saying, if Wade and Co. want to minimize costly turnovers, they should go with BJ.

But Bollinger "sure can throw that ball," he allowed.

The Key is he still has physical abilities.

Johnson doesn't.

You can still know the game mentally all you want. Your body still has to be able to do what you want it to do. Johnson can't do it.

With all this Brad Johnson talk, not only here but in the media now (ESPN, NFL.com, NFL Network, Dallas Cowboys.com) I've got a feeling that we could see Brooks on Sunday. I just hope that it doesn't turn out to be a huge mistake if we do.

If it does so what?

We aren't winning this game with Brad.

Our defense isn't going to give up 0 Touchdowns.

And if Romo goes down again at least you know which guy to go with because if Brad has to play the season is over.

If we win. Waahoooo. If we lose... Thats ok.

I just dont see how this could be a mistake regardless of the outcome and I think the Cowboys front office will be thinking that way as well.

3 yards an attempt... Garrett can't have that.

It's awfully damning if that's the case. How many draft picks have we spent on the o-line the last 3 years? How many are busts? Whoever is scouting the o-line for us needs to be seriously looked at.

there is no scouting report on "Brooke Bollinger" because there is no player named "Brooke Bollinger"

Once again our front office and scouting have been bested by the cheating Patriots. Their 2nd QB is doing pretty well.

You want Brooks Bollinger to start Sunday?

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

It's understand if folks aren't real excited about watching Brad "Checkdown" Johnson operate the Cowboys' offense Sunday in the Meadowlands. It's not a good sign when the nicest thing you can say about a QB is that he didn't commit any turnovers.

However, it's hard to get real fired up about what Brooks Bollinger brings to the table. There's a reason Bollinger was unemployed at the beginning of the season.

Bollinger went 6-of-18 for 62 yards against the Cowboys in his last game action, the preseason finale and his swan song with the Vikings. He does have some starting experience, but it's not exactly of the encouraging variety. Bollinger's team lost eight of his 10 starts.

His stats from those starts:

14-of-28, 149 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (13-3 loss to Ravens)

11-of-21, 98 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT (30-3 loss to Panthers)

4-of-5, 26 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (27-0 loss to Broncos)

19-of-28, 251 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (21-19 loss to Saints)

15-of-37, 135 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (16-3 loss to Patriots)

14-of-26, 119 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (26-10 win over Raiders)

28-of-42, 327 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT (24-20 loss to Jets)

11-of-19, 100 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (31-21 loss to Patriots)

11-of-20, 153 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (30-26 win over Bills)

16-of-26, 176 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (34-0 loss to Packers)

143-of-252 (56.7 pct.), 1,534 yards, 5 TD, 7 INT

The only difference here is that our offense is a Lamborghini compared to what he played with before. All we need is for him to get it into 2nd gear and we might win:D

He should be our #2 this week and our #3 when Romo gets back, nothing more.
