What's the word on T.Y. Hilton?

I am an Ohio State fan and I follow all players from that school. I like Noah Brown, is he better than Hilton? If not, Dallas held on to him for years with minimal production.
They held onto Brown primarily for his ability to block in the run game and did so with 2 different staffs and even held onto him after drafting his replacement in Fehoku. Don’t think Hilton’s going to give you much service in that function a 5’9 180ish eh?

Your 4th receiver needs to be able to be a return guy or offer physicality as a tackler in special teams. Hilton can do neither. Nor can Hilton bring anything as a blocker to the position, which is something fans always under-value, and the Cowboys will hunt for later this offseason.

Brandin Cooks spells the end of TY Hilton's Cowboys moments. He's the speed element that brought Hilton to the Cowboys.

Don't think TY will much mind moving on from the NFL. Admire that he's got higher, bigger values.

Is this guy signed for this year or is he still available as a free agent?

I think he’s a must resign he’s a gamer and he’s a team player and he would have no problem filling in as the fourth wide receiver on this team.

He was great last year. I know we got Cooks, but this guy is a must have.
If only dak would have looked his way when he was wide open on the left sideline instead of forcing the ball to cd,I think we win that game..that was a easy td...sigh.

Fisher said this means TY is gone.

He’s available and could be signed. He doesn’t move the needle but there’s a place in the WR room for a guy like him. He’s lost his athleticism but could be “a guy”.
Lost his athleticism??? Tell that to the Eagles on 3rd and 30 in double coverage.

Noah Brown was a key STs and blocking WR on a cheap contract. Once you get to 4th and 5th WR they have to play STs.

I hope they don't pay him. Lamb, Gallup, Cooks, Tolbert, Turpin, and the rest young developmental guys

sorry to be a bearer of bad news no way is TY coming back right now. The top 3 WR do not play ST so the 4th and 5th and possibly 6th will need to do duties on ST. That is the only reason I do not see as main roster guy at the start of the season.

He would be great to have as a 4th receiver, but being the 4th WR I can't see that he is a "must have".

Besides, do we really know he would have no problem filling in as the 4th WR, or if he would be be okay with 4th WR money? He made $800K last year and didn't even play until the 15th game. And remember, much of his value last year was based on the Cowboys not already having a high quality #3 WR, and their #2 WR was still working back to normal after injury problems.

My guess is they would like to fill the #4 spot with Jalen Tolbert, but if they decide he isn't the player they thought when they drafted him, they likely will get a veteran that's a little lower profile than TY Hilton - someone that has never been a #1 like Hilton. 4th and 5th WR may come down to a training camp competition.

Might not be a bad idea to have TY on the roster as a back up to Cooks' speed/over the top routes.

Lose Cooks and you're right back to lacking any speed on the outside again.
Just sayin.

Plus, you have the option of 2 speedsters on the outside at the same time. Nice formation to run out of, too, with safeties preoccupied with doubling the speedsters... or getting burned.
