Me too. I just learned they were for head injuries. I thought they were a layer of protection against neck/spinal injuries.ok learn something everyday

It’s actually attached in the back to the shoulder pads, I believe. It’s not just hanging there on the neck. The support under the jersey by being attached to the pads allows the upper collar to absorb the brunt of force so the neck isn’t compressed as much….padding the bottom of the helmet.Whats up with that? Do they have a function?
