I mean come on they won three games in a row and now they at ESPN say they are on their way to being a contender, when the cowboys won 3 of their last 4 games and would have had 4 in a row if not for the fluke. And two games against the good teams. I don't get it. Then Steve Young last night on ESPN talking about he is not sold on the Cowboys yet, and to take it one game at a time, yet in the same breath talk about how the 49ers are now contenders.!!?? What a hater!!

I'm not too surprised. I had them pegged as a 5-6 win team that could put a decent record together if everything went right for them.

They have a youbng quarterback that has flashed potential
- an elite back in Gore
-their receivers are average, although Vernon Davis has a lot of upside

Their defense is pretty bad though when matched up with the better teams in the league.

Right now, I'd say they will finish around 7-9 or so. Mike Nolan is doing a solid job in rebuilding the Niners and I think they will contend within the next few years as legitimate playoff contenders The recent cycle of the abysmal 49ers team, I think, is coming to an end,

they are playing really well right now, They deserve all the credit they get.

Mike nolan will be coach of the year.

I watched the niners vikings game, and the niners just suffocated the vikings on defense and wore them out running the ball and being patient on offense.

They have some good players there that work hard, work as a team. Bryant just bought his ticket out of there, but they will replace him.
