Whats up with Irving?

And some people are clamoring for us to sign him to an extension.

The dude can't even motivate himself during a contract year.

Just follow him on social media. He is a very odd person. No way I'd place any amount of reliance on him.

I’m not too worried about being in shape I’m more concerned with the fact he’s hardly even showing up. You’d think a guy who is having emotional issues would look for something stable in his life like oh maybe the game he plays? That’s a bigger concern, and why I’ve changed my opinion on handing him a big contract at the end of the year.
Good thought. It tells the coaching staff and FO that the team can’t help him emotionally which would mean signing him long term isn’t in his best interest. I am wondering if with the emotional issues and making it known if the NFL doesn’t monitor him which would result in a random drug test.

I wouldn't cut him at this point given our issues along the DL. We have to take the risk for this season, at least.

But he's basically shipping himself out of Dallas beyond this season, at this point.

If not sooner. If the Cowboys could get another player, I think they would trade him. Trouble is, the other 31 teams have the Internet too.

And some here were out with the pitchforks when some people said we should take a 2nd for him if someone wanted him.

Either way, hope this guy gets it together for us.

There were plenty screaming for a big money contract extension, treating it as if it were a given and just a matter of time.

He was right there on the "must sign list" with Zack Martin and Demarcus Lawrence.

And now we see why they didn't, and why they ultimately won't.

Take a look at starting/key players during Belichick's tenure with the Patriots that he released, traded, or failed to re-sign in free agency:

Drew Bledose, Jamie Collins, Randy Moss, Lawyer Milloy, Richard Seymour, Adam Vinatieri, Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Willie McGinest, Wes Welker, Mike Vrabel, Logan Mankins, Deion Branch, Vince Wilfork, and Chandler Jones.

Quality coaches, and front offices can win without productive players.
Even more so, productive players who lack commitment to the team ought to be shown the door.

You think Belichick would put up with this Irving nonsense.
Set an example in 2018, & get rid of this guy -- or is the case as usual, where Jerry the GM enables & permits lethargic and listless players to remain on the roster.

Bet he ends up in Cali. Which is cool especially SoCal. I don't blame him. Those Cali nights. Night life, ocean, everybody is a little less uptight and chillzzz

Get some Salmon Poke Bowls and walk da beach. Then he can smoke a lil. Drink a lil. Do some thangzz

cut him? He's one of the few on the Dline that actually hits the qb on a regular basis. If having nothing but perfect players on the team was necessary, we'd have cut probably 85% of the 90s team.
I wouldn't cut David Irving.
He's a signed asset for one more year.
But I would have about zero interest in a long term deal at this point and trading him would be a serious consideration.

And again my daily reminder that David Irving has 11.5 CAREER sacks.
He isn't hitting anyone on every play because he is seldom on the field.

I'd gladly let someone else take the big money risk that you can pay the guy then hope he becomes consistent and professional.

Bill would have won a couple more SBs if he kept some of those players

Bill puts up with knuckleheads all the time

I did a 180 on Irving

He is a head case..... ride him hard this year and hope to get a Comp Pick next year

Huge difference between a knucklehead that produces, see Dez Bryant or Michael Irvin as young men, and a guy who is mostly a no show and is merely offering flashes. Guys that aren't in shape get hurt.

A guy that missed the last 4 games last year and now is skipping the off-season program? Yes, holmes that is a dud of a player.
Terrible example of a teammate or player.

Thing is, the guy can play.

We weren’t extending him anyway. This just means there’s an open question whether he starts the year strong or not. There’s a good reason this guy was available on the KC practice squad in the first place.

That said, it’s OtAs. By week 1, we’ll have forgotten his offseason drama, and we’ll be back to being idiots for not extending him early after his first solo sack.

Please provide a detailed list of knuckleheads not named Rob Gronkowski or Aaron Hernandez that Bill "puts up" with yearly.
I'll take Belichick's knowledge of team players over Jerry's any day of the week.
