Every year this happens, though. Multiple players uniformly slip from the early-mid round projections all the way through the bottom of the draft. It goes to show you how much the teams' evaluation differ from the various draft info collectors'.

I think Jeffcoat's problem is that he really isn't exceptional in any trait on the field. Adequate maybe, but not exceptional. That's the kind of guy that you usually pick up off the street.

It almost universal that when players slide this bad and everyone passes, there is either an unknown character issue teams don't want to disclose to protect the player or they saw something bad on his physical and again, don't want to mention to protect the player.

I was shocked he didn't get drafted. Somebody earlier mentioned he wasn't the same after his pec injury - probably spot on.

Mike Davis was another longhorn surprise not getting drafted. He signed with the Raiders.

To be honest if his last name wasn't Jeffcoat we wouldn't care, I remember when Chris Simms was available and we didn't get him after watching his career we didn't miss out on much
