Think people just got tired of hearing about Tebow in general.
He just keeps on popping up, which usually is weird for a guy who never panned out in the NFL and wants to try another sport. I mean, seems like every interview with a player they thank Jesus/God for the opportunity so it's not like Tebow is a minority being a Christian in sports. He is more outgoing about his religion as a player, but to me it wasn't Tebow that was overdoing it, it was his religious fans overdoing the talk about Tebow. If that makes sense.

However, don't get the reason to write such a long tirade against him. funny it comes from an ESPN writer, the network that slobbered all over Tebow in the past.
unless he used this baseball mockery to get out of his ESPN deal and will make more money coming back from baseball to be a college football analyst on Fox as everyone suspects.
espn has lost about 30% of their staff in cuts but this guy is walking away from a good job there? guessing that would engender some bitterness.

Largely agree if the issue is supersaturation with the guy writing about him is counter-productive.

There are folks out there, even on this very board, that go out of their way to denounce any positive spin to anything Christian and especially white Christian. They seem to believe the sports world would be far better off void of any hint of Caucasian Christianity.

I can't tell you the last time I saw 5 white NBA players on the same team on the court at the same time.

Quora actually answered this inquiry...

Tebow is definitely an attention ***** and overbearingly arrogant.

There are Christians who support him simply because of his Christian message and ignore the fact he he thinks too good to be a reporter or too good to play TE.
He's the male version of a princess.

There are hundreds of athletes who are uncompromisingly Christian that are not turning down NFL chances or ESPN jobs to "try baseball".
Yesterday he went to the wrong warm up circle... struck out twice and lined into a double play on his only contact.
He did "draw" a hit by pitch but was promptly doubled up at first base because he had strayed too far from the bag.
Considering he didn't play the field it was about as bad as it gets.
He's content to put butts in seats and make a mockery of the game for a paycheck.
That's annoying to say the least.

Chances are, you don't know Tebow and have never met or spoken with him.... yet you claim to know what he is thinking and denigrate him. Your bitterness is quite telling.

Does somebody need to know somebody to make a judgment? Do I need to know Barry Bonds to know he's a horses ***?

A lot can be determined based on observing someone. And knowing that person isnt necessary.

The "you dont even know me" is just an excuse to try to justify being a jerk or clown.

Do I care what you're thinking?

Apparently you cared enough to stick your nose in a post I made to somebody else. Then miss the crux of my argument about knowing what someone else was "thinking"... say as opposed to having the right to make a judgement about a person. So, again I ask, do you know what I'm "thinking" right now?

What you're thinking is irrelevant.

I can ascertain a little about you based on what you post but its minimal.

Tebow or Bonds tho are public figures who all of us have had plenty of opportunity to see in action and hear talk numerous times.

So asking if I know what you're thinking is meaningless in this context.

Still, you either miss the point, or intentionally evade it. Another poster stated they knew what Tebow was thinking: "he thinks too good to be a reporter or too good to play TE", uses that assertion as a basis to denigrate him as a "princess" and claims "...there are hundreds of athletes who are uncompromisingly Christian that are not turning down NFL chances or ESPN jobs to 'try baseball'....".

You don't like someone? Fine, that's your right. But don't pretend to know what a total stranger thinks, because neither you, nor I, or anyone but the person themself have any idea what's going on in their head. Call it for what it is: Your bias based on your values.

So I cant make a judgment on somebody else unless I know what they're thinking? What they say or how they act reveals nothing about them? Others cant make a determination simply because they dont know what they're thinking?

So because Barry Bonds has never told me what he's thinking I cant ascertain that he's a world class horse's ***?

Or because TO has never told me what he's thinking Im wrong to say that he has some issues?

Your refutation boils down to "I can think what I want". To which I have responded "Yes, you can. But you don't really know what anybody else thinks - so your evaluations of strangers are more a product of your bias than your special insight".

Or I can observe someone and see a lot. Just like anybody else can.

Am I wrong about Barry Bonds?

Am I wrong about TO?

Do I NEED to know what either is or was thinking?

If you are going to claim, or support someone who claims, they KNOW what someone else is thinking to form the basis of a criticism; then yes, you do need to know what they're thinking.

Otherwise, you're just forming an opinion based on what you've seen, heard or read..... information which can be biased and/or incomplete. Given what we found out during the last election cycle, if you don't believe bias can exist in the media, then you're being willfully ignorant.

Bonds sounds like a jerk to me. Know why? Because I don't like cheaters, and it looks to me like he cheated. Do I know that for a fact? Nope, he actually won his court case. Don't like him anyways. Same thing for Clemens. That's my bias. But I'm not going to go out an ascribe a motivation or claim to know their thought processes to support my bias. That's speculation, not fact.

It may surprise you, but there are people out there who think Bonds, TO, Tebow and even OJ are "great guys"..... and I'm guessing its mostly because those guys have been successful athletes for the teams they support. Do you know more about them personally than they do? If you don't, why doesn't everyone think like you?

Ive never said I knew what somebody else was thinking. You've been arguing against a point you brought up, not me. All Ive said is I dont need to know what somebody else is thinking, nor do I need to know them to observe some things about them which allow me to make a judgment about him/her as a person. So far you still have been arguing your point and failed to show where my point is not valid. And no matter how much you you argue, you will NEVER show my point to be invalid.
