Bs.. We should have taken him. He could have fought for starting job against nick Hayden day 1!! Instead we draft depth at linebacker and defensive end which we have already addressed with Gregory, Lawrence and hardy, plus we have mincey. Don't understand!!

Best guess is very simple. NFL teams didn't see him as a top 100 guy much less a top 50 guy. The NFL frequently has a very different perspective then the media evaluators.

Couldn't agree more. Every draft some big 'name' guys drop like rocks and the chicken-littles go crazy because their ream doesn't scoop them up. I've noticed that in the mid 3rd, most of the guys getting picked have not been widely discussed on any fan-boards, yet the majority of us go nuts because our team is picking guys we never considered.

Very true. Same with Ifo fro Oregan. A torn ACL is notgoingto drop him from th 1st to the 7th. Heck, Chip didn't even draft him...that says tons.

Since the scouting combine and draft has blown up to this huge spectacle and we have 2 months of pre-draft shows on TV every day even the casual fans have heard of the bigger name players and know who they are. They start to buy into the hype and overreact when they see guys dropping like Bennett.

I'm not surprised he didn't get picked in the 2nd/3rd but I was really surprised he didn't go 4th/5th/. He ended up as the R6-P4.
