Whats wrong with Dallas?

With so much promise and so little in return you have wonder whats really wrong in Dallas. It can not be ONE player thats at the root of the whole problem. Sure media and the people outside of the organization who eat up a report by somebody who wont even name their sources could be suckered into believing that. But when you have so many people(players) in the organization coming to his defense, and saying he isnt the problem, then whats one to think?

Let's dig into this Owens thing...

The anti-Owens group will point to Owens opening his mouth to media. Some people will point to a certain Deion interview. But is anything he said different then what other Cowboy players said? NO, but the difference is, he doesnt sugarcoat his responses like the Romo's, Bradie's, Wittens. He says whats on his mind and says it in a way that comes out arrogant, and me first.

The pro-Owens group will say well, sure he says something but its no different then what Romo, Witten, James, Newman, and countless other Cowboys said throughout the whole yr. So in essence both groups agree that the system was flawed. But one group isnt willing to give Owens the benefeit of the doubt.

But did Owens even bring any attention to himself this yr? OR, was it espn reports bringing his name into reports with unnamed sources.

This can take forever, and i dont feel like talking about Owens in this whole post. People know my stance and thats that.

Flozell Adams, I'm sorry but this guy was flat-out bad this yr. I dont care if he's going to the probowl or u can come out with some stats. *** that, I have eyes, and in too many games he was horrible. Especially against speed rushers. He's paid like a top tackle in th NFL but he isnt anymore. This IMO is the worst case of spent money this past offseason by Jerry. Did Dallas have a better player to put on the field, hell no, but how do players get better? BY PLAYING! How do people expect to move on and develope their own talent if they never give them a chance. Flo's lateral movement is to the point where it doesnt even exsist anymore. But, like with other players in past yrs, Dallas is stuck with him for atleast 1 more yr because of the caphit.

Secondary play:
Hamlin was given a big contract this past yr, and it looked like he took a step back. But, was that really the case? 4 people played FS alongside him this yr and that played a big part in the continuity of the secondary. Not to mention Henry and Newmans inability to stay healthy. Makes you wonder about Newman. Are this guys legs damaged goods? Every yr its something with his legs. Then you think, he's a sprinter with CB skills. Very good CB skills, but he's still a sprinter. A 30 yr old sprinter. And every yr it takes Newman a little bit longer to come back from them injuries too. He's no spring chicken anymore. Henry has lost 2, 3 ,even 4 steps, and its just time to call it a day. Scandrick and Jenkins seemed to gel with what the secondary wanted to do twards the end of the yr anyways. This is what i mean about letting your players develope. Scandrick played very well, and Jenkins had some lapses here and there, and he should be the starter next yr. IMO tho there
should be a open competition this yr for that right CB spot.

LB play:
Next yr dallas has the Best LB athlete in the NFL(Ware). They have a very good 1st and 2nd down ILB in Bradie James and thats it.

Sure they have Greg Ellis and Anthony Spencer, but Ellis is on his last legs, and Spencer, well he's made a couple more plays then Bobbie Carpenter. And thats not saying much. I think Dallas needs some more Athletes, where they find them who knows. Spencer will likely be suspended next yr for some time after his arrest. Ellis i think will be cut. Carp? HaHa.....whatever.

Ray Lewis, James Farrior, Andra Davis, Zach Thomas will all be good for the inside job. But i think Dallas needs somebody else on the outside. Ellis isnt what he was even in 07, and Spencer is a liabilty against the run.

Baltimore isnt going to be able to sign all Lewis, Scott, and Suggs. The one who goes, Dallas should go after.

QB play:
Too many people like to blame Romo's faults on the "throw to Owens or he'll get mad theory" I think its more of the "Brett Farve" mentality Romo seems to have. It's not only to Owens he's throwing into double coverage on. He's doing it to everybody. The loss to the Steelers is a prime example. Im glad a guy like Aikman came out and said Romo needs to start upping his game because he isnt as good as he thinks he is. One minute he's a nobody, next he has a 67 million dollar contract.

I think this yr was good for him, he had a very good 24 game start, and put up insane numbers in them first 24 games. But he got a reality check in 08. That he's not elite yet. He still needs work. And wether he likes it or not he has to become a leader.

So is it the coaching? interference by the owner? I dont think the blame is on Jerry. He writes the checks. He's not coaching them. Jerry has given this team the players and when these players were signed everybody praised him. But because they fail everybody forgets that they liked a players signings, and now blame Jerry.

So who's to blame? Ed werder? somebody put a bullet in him BAM!

I been disappointed since the steelers game. Thats when i knew the season was over. But i just think Dallas went up against 3 of the best teams at that end of the yr in the nfl. Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Philly were all in the conference championship games.

Sure they need a attitude adjustment, leadership and direction for 09. But, this isnt a trainwreck like the media and the average fan will like to believe.

Here's hoping for a different outcome in 09 with a new stadium and new season full of optomism. And, like a Raider fan said at Cowboyszone this yr. All of you crying about this team is horrible, stop crying like some little ******* because atleast this team isnt the Raiders.

Excellent read man. I'm with you and am beginning to develop an hint of optimism again after seeing the news that Jerry is at least willing to help fix our coaching deficiencies by bring aboard a very strong football mind. I'm almost willing to get the photoshop brush out and come up with my next sig. If this Dan Reeves information is indeed true we may actually be saved from a toilet flush of the 2009 season. :)

Owens went on national television and hammered Garrett. As for Wereder I see a lot of selective reporting. Every WR went to Garrett with the same complaint.

I also don't know why no one recognizes just how beat up Flo was. He played through three pretty serious injuries to hand leg and shoulder. Its hard to play LT when you cannot lift your arm, get a hold of anyone or move very much.

To me its a credit to his toughness that he was out there each and every game. If anything I have concern about where Free is at in his development.

A lot is wrong with Dallas... Starting with the dumb owner who looks like Freddie Kruger in the face.

Romo also threw him under the bus and Ravens players raved about how easy it was to figure out Garrett's offense. Owens complaining isn't a problem...

So what's wrong with Dallas? I dunno but it's funny that Detriot went 0-16 this season and yet (at least for me, maybe some of you too), it seems things are SO SO far worse in Dallas right now. I just gotta laugh about it sometimes.

Can we stop pretending Romo threw Garrett under a bus. Please?
