Is Jerry Jones making the right moves to bring a title back to dallas from rayfield wright? To be honest I think jerry needs to do whatever it is that Jerry does best. Now, I dont agree with most of his football decisions but Jerry is a very likeable guy. As the owner of the dallas cowboys, he’s terrific. As the G M perhaps not so terrific.

Dorset, There is no other owner in sports who wants to win more than jerry. I would have loved to play for an owner like him. However, I think he stretches himself too thin at times because he wears too many hats.

Whats the one thing the cowboys need to become a contender again?> Wright; Perhaps what jerry needs to do is this, there are 8 cowboys players in the hall of fame and we all live in or near Dallas. Why doesnt jerry call on our talents, knowledge and leadership skills? Dont you think Tony Dorsett, Roger Staubach, Mel Renfro, Randy White, Bob Lily, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin & I could create a desire within the current team to win and to play like winners? Together, the 8 of us have close to more than 100 years of football experience. Wouldnt you call on that type of experience to help run your company? The Boys have amazing talent, but they need to play for the team. Not for the cameras, not for themselves. For the team. All this talk about needing a team leader doesnt make sense to me. We never had just one leader. We never had one captain. We had several co captains who were motivators.

Dorsett; Leaders, chemistry and a foot up their butts.

Is Romo the right answer at quarterback?
Wright; In my opinion the offensive line must protect their QB in the same manner in which the Secret Service protects the president. Without complete and total protection, the best QB in the NFL will be unsuccessful without a talented line to protect them. Tony has talent, no question about it, Is he right for teh Cowboys? I dont have all of the elements of the equation to answer yes or no.

Dorsett;
Yes, I think he can be the man. Tony was made a star before he did anything to justify it. You have to earn your stripes in this league. He was somehow given them, and people expected too much. from him when he had not even started 16 games. Lets keep it real people.

Are the cowboys better or worse without T O?
Wright; I still have visual in my head of T O stomping on the star at Texas Stadium while with the 49ers so you may have asked me the wrong question. He should be on the field to play football and not be playing for the camera or applying lip balm. He should be at practice, voluntarily or not. I will give T O this much; He is a gifted football player. But there are thousands of gifted football players throughout the country. It takes more than talent to make it in the NFL. One must learn the system. The Cowboys need to come together as a team. So, Im looking for something positive to come out of next years team.

Dorsett: Terrell is a great player and hard worker. Time will tell. now, hopefully the young wrs can develop and show their skills, They’d better or ....”

What current Cowboys would you most want as your teammate?
Wright; Without question, I would say Marion Barber, But then I had the privilege to block for Dorsett so I cant complain. Barber has the tenacity to move the football. And more important, he never gives up.

Dorsett; Barber, He just seems to be enjoying the game. His passion for the game is fantastic.

Half the board wants to get rid of him even though he is a touchdown machine.

I agree with everything said in the article other than someof the perception that Tony Romo is not a proven QB in this league. Yes, he got recognition very quickly and that happens when you start winning right away and throwing for so many TD's so quickly.

But to say it was just given to him and he ahsn't really earned the stripes is incorrect. The 10 games 3 years ago were extremely good for a first time starting QB. His 2007 season was absolutely outstanding regular season wise and really only Tom Brady's record breaking season trumped his at the QB position. Favre's was nowhere as good as Tony's in 2007, not even Mannings who had a good one also.

2008 was looking hella productive as well until the injury and even though he didnt play a quarter of the games put up some pretty serious numbers. I know the guy hasn't won in the playoffs and that's the ultimate goal but to say Tony Romo hasn't earned alot of the stripes he's obtained is incorrect in my books.

Believe me, this line looks alot lore talented on passing downs than it is because of Tony Romo's ability to but time and even better ability to get rid of the ball. He needs to be more careful with the ball, yes. But every other QB in te league would either get sacked more or turn it over at least as much as Tony behind this type of o-line and lack of running to passing balance. Doubt they would be as accurate and have as many TD's though. Brady, Manning, Brees and maybe Rivers, Yes. But Ben, no.

:bow: True Cowboy Legends.........

ive always wished Jerry would get the older legends more involved in practices and meetings......teach these teams what it means to be a Dallas Cowboys......thinking to self (visions of Irvin giving the 4th and long speech to our entire team at once..with TD and Wright standing behind him looking around at everyone like they just stole something)

It's foolish. Why would you ever trade a player like that? He has everything you want from a football player. The coaches just have to recognize his limitations and play to his strengths. That's what was lacking last season.

totally agree dadymat;

i remember when coach landry would bring in some of the older vets, even jimmy johnson brought in some of the older players now and then;

these players now have no ideal of what it was like playing in the early 60s etc, with a stadium that leaked, rats that would eat your uniforms etc,

having to play for less money like bob lily did in his hey day, heck even duane thomas thought that tex schramn had an issue with certain players, but when he saw how much boby lily made, thomas realized that it wasnt a player person issue, was a money issue

having to play in extreme cold like the cowboys did in the ice bowl and certain players to this day still get frost bite on their fingers when it gets cold
