Fitting to use a band consisting solely of children for a song that heavily references Neverland from Peter Pan.
Ugh. And in this one it’s old dudes? I’m liking the conceptual direction she’s going potentially.
New Phoebe Bridgers drops at midnight tonight boys. First record in 6 years.
Ugh. I am so
pumped. Her first record was good, interesting indie rock, but her second album was a luscious piece of very atmospheric acoustic driven music with killer lyrics.
If this new Phoebe record is as good as it’s being hyped by the critics, she is officially one of my generation’s best lyricists and most interesting songwriters - an Elliott Smith type songwriter, an honest lyricist with deadpan sarcasm who parallels fairytale-like storytelling with deeply personal tales of life. She’s like a Neil Young, Tom Waits, Robert Smith type of lyricist. Some playfulness, some grittiness, some darkness, songs about love and violence and aging and death and affairs and religion and drinking and what have you.
I think wanna see her in Nashville. Her tours this year are having people lock their devices in those magnetic envelope things so you can’t film.
What is she doing I wonder. People haven’t been leaking any footage!
@Runwildboys which Phoebe pic for my next profile pic in celebration (RIP Rust from True Detective pfp)
This isn’t another Muse situation, I’m just PUMPED for some PHOEBE. It’s amazing to see an artist I’ve followed their entire career turn into a very respected musician.
