What's your favorite song at the moment?

All these from the break dancing era and not one from the soundtracks of Breakin', Electric Boogie, or something from Grandmaster Flash?

Shame on you Reality.... LOL
Most of the songs I posted were "jam" songs, not really break dancing songs, though some were later used for that :D

I'm starting to think this is becoming less about "favorite songs" and more about listing the most obscure stuff you know.
I listen to a wide variety of music, with some of it being obscure and some of it being well known. Normally when I listen to music, it's music from the same artists or composers. Every so often though I will listen to a genre of music and that's usually when I post more.

I have never been a mainstream music fan, so most of the music I listen to regularly is not very commonly known except by people who enjoy or have enjoyed that particular that particular genre.

Amazing composer if you enjoy piano.
Reminds me of a composition by an artist that I never thought got enough credit for his pure composing talent because of his electronic background and the way he looked, Yanni. He wrote many emotive melodies but he had this persona of a pop star and of course the chicks dug him so men couldn't. That's why you'll seldom hear any man say Paul, the cute one, was their favorite Beatle.

I am so eclectic no one in my age bracket wants to listen to my music. I can go from Alt to Metal to EDM to Funk to Techno to Red Dirt to Classic Country, hate the Nashville crap they peddle now, to Rock to Real Jazz to Cuban to Latin all in two hours when I am outside on the patio. And throw some Disco in on a Saturday night. Smooth Jazz or Classical on Sunday mornings.

My neighbors think I am going through my second childhood but I never left the first. Everyone I know that is my age or close to it, and I mean everyone, is either Oldies, Classic Rock or Country. Unless it is Country, they do not experiment with new music and I do not get that being stuck in an era and listening to the same music over and over.

I spent 25 years in radio and never liked it as a music source, playlists are too tight, and tighter than ever now, and the rotations too heavy. I might actually like Adele, Coldplay and Ed Sherran better if they weren't run into the ground.

There is so much great music out there with so many talented composers and musicians that people are cheating themselves by not opening up their ears with an open mind and sampling as much as they can. They would be surprised at what they would like.

Honestly, I normally try staying in the genre I am listening to while posting in the Zone. If I see new video releases of groups I like, I also try posting them all together as a release night for the week... LOL

Runny, if you made a road trip with me for 4 hours and I had control of the music, obscure might not cover it. I am all over the place and I am a chain listener like I am a chain thinker, one thing leads to another, uh-oh, feel a Fixx coming on.

I can hear just a partial riff of a tune and that will remind me of another song and so on down the line. I had a pretty extensive collection on CD and on IPod but then discovered Apple Music and I am a runaway train and I have Amazon Music through Prime.. My sons use Spotify and I wonder what's going to happen to the recording industry because even the artists that were eschewing the streaming services are cratering because once people discover that they are not likely to pull out the CD or iPod nearly as much. I averaged 10-12 CD's per month and now I do not buy any.

One effect is the move the EP's with fewer tracks than a full album so there is less filler required by labels. The theory is you'll get 5 better songs if they don't have to do 10.

Staying within a genre, what's that?

You should see my earlier posts in this thread. I listen to all kinds of music in all types of genres. While I have my favorite genres and there are some genres I'm not fond of, I like some music in just about every genre.

Just I get into a blues kick one night, then a nu-metal the next...... Back to classic rock yet another night. I can't switch genres like a radio station. Normally I am already in a mood to hear a certain sound so I stay with it most of the night.

I have a couple Yanni CDs and many others from that genre of music from back then. I really liked Rainmaker by him.

I wish you could only buy whole albums. Most of my favorite songs are the ones you don't hear on the radio....it wherever.
You used to buy an album and listen to the whole thing, because the whole thing was good. It almost had to be.
Machine Head by Deep Purple
Nearly every Led Zeppelin album
Pink Floyd
Bad Company

So much great music you wouldn't have heard without buying the album.
