Some songs we have an emotional connection to, right?
This reminds me of an interesting time I had in the beautiful city of Warsaw, Poland, with some real friends, and some less-than-real friends.
The latter and I were in some hipster bar (that did serve excellent drinks at least) and this came on the soundsystem. It was raining and slightly chilly. For anyone who’s never had to travel for a job, you start to notice the difference in the smell of the air. In Warsaw, it smells warm, but sterile.
The conversations were contrived. And, like the air, warm, but sterile. They were necessary. Everyone was looking at me, and I was looking at them. I was aware of my surroundings. But mentally, they weren’t really there. And neither was I. I just wanted to be alone.
