My head unit was Alpine (Pioneer was my first one) .. I was lucky my dad was awesome with wood so with his help I designed a custom enclosure for my Nissan 240SX hatch. I designed them so they pointed back and up toward the hatch glass. I had Kicker mid-high components (non-standard size forced it) in the back and Boston Acoustics components in the front. I even pulled the panels out to install sound proof material throughout the car. Not one single vibration anywhere inside or out even down to 20hz.

Very nice!!! I was always a Kenwood head unit homer. Something about them I loved. I remember one I had would slide down and then back up when you wanted to put a disk in and then flip over and hide when you turned the vehicle off. I thought that was the coolest damn thing ever.


I liked those 240sx cars. They're pretty rare to see out in the wild these days.

I've had this conversation with @daboyzruleperiod before, but looking back now at the hip-hop I grew up with, it amazes me how many of them sampled classic tracks from earlier decades. I seem to find more and more all the time. It is crazy.

I only know them because I worked as a DJ when I was a teenager and we played those songs for years because the business was too cheap to buy new music very often

That's also why I bought so much music myself. I still have dozens of 12" singles on vinyl from back then.
