I spent thirty years in the Houston area - this guy was a revered singer-songwriter. Contemporaries include such legends as Robert Earl Keen, and Steve Earle. He’s been covered by Willie ******* Nelson and Bob ******* Dylan. How much better can a troubadour be?

Rolling Stones, War, so many others did his songs. Pancho and Lefty by Merle and Willie was his song. He was really more of a songwriter than a performer. Fun fact - Van Zandt county is named for one of his ancestors.
