Perfection. Although he was terrified of live performances, he always killed it. My favorite MJ videos are of him live at awards shows (pre-'93/94) or short sets, just because he gave it his absolute all for the ten or so minutes was on stage

I miss the artist. I was at his funeral. It was probably the single greatest event I've been too.

Sadly, I've seen enough evidence to know he was a child molester / predator.

Same. I read everything at MJFacts and its just too much. Before I researched him, I went thinking there might be a chance he was innocent, maybe even a good chance, but after about 3-4 days researching, it looks like he was a lover of boys, in a bad way, not a Pan way.

He hurt children and I don't like it.

Still, his greatness can never be disputed by anyone with a pulse. And I can't not listen to him. His music is just too good. Also, LOL @ "bubble gum Tupac" -- that's a first for me and I don't necessarily disagree (with some of his early stuff). Think he was more bubble gum with Digital Underground, but still, I like it and might steal it from ya, GMO ;)

Have you seen his Super Bowl performance recently (I'm assuming you've seen it before)? More perfection, GMO. And it was our Super Bowl!. Only Michael gets 100K fans involved during the halftime show. There's a great story about how this SB performance came about. If anyone cares to know, I can go on. Scared to keep posting this thread and not let others have their turn.

I agree but when it comes to his art, I can separate the man and the art. He was one of the most immensely talented performers I have ever seen perform but he was cursed by demons. I think he was insane.

My wife, a huge fan, and I watched that last doc done before he died and his meticulous attention to detail was impressive. We have two boys and I was "how can you be a fan of a guy like that"? She always separated the person and the artist and didn't want to know anything about their personal lives. She would still watch Mel Gibson and Kevin Spacey perform today.

It's odd how so many made so much out of Jackson's personal life and basically ignored Bing Crosby abused and beat his own children.

Michael was approached by the NFL about the Halftime show.

At that point, in 92/93, the NFL, already the number one sport in America (it overtook baseball in the 70s), was still wanting to really pop out with an amazing halftime show, and they approached one person only -- MJ.

MJ was reluctant at first. He didn't know that his appeal would crossover to the average NFL-type viewer, as back then he was ridiculed heavily by the press ("wacko Jack-o"; sleeps in a cryogenic chamber to preserve his youth [it was actually a photo taken during his Pepsi commercial that created that fake news], loved monkeys like "Bubbles", "implanted his facial hair one-by-one", "bleached his skin to be white" etc etc etc), so he thought the average redneck would be turned off to him (let's be honest, NFL is comprised of a ton of redneck viewership).

But when he was presented with the fact that 1.5 billion would be watching the halftime show by his business people and staffers (he was notoriously relentless with his business and opportunities to make money), he did an immediate 180 and acquiesced and agreed to do the show. He couldn't pass up that opportunity once the numbers were laid out in front of him. The rest his history. Best halftime show ever. Even topping Paul, imo.

So, I am at this SB party with 15 couples and we know about half of them but the Texas redneck, a special breed unto itself, contingency was well represented, and when the halftime show came up, a bunch of these guys go out back and asked their wives to call them back in when the "freakshow" is over and let me say here that I have been imbibing like a man facing execution on Monday and should have been quiet but I wasn't. The leader of the pack asked me if I wanted to join them and I replied "no, I'll take the "freakshow" in here" and that did not sit well at all as he told his pack what I had said. Let me add that the N word had been used liberally by his pack.

After the halftime, they came back in with a couple of them glaring at me but mainly the leader. We are all in our 40's and right after the game this guy calls me out and wants to go outside and he's drunk on his butt and I am soaring. His wife tries to reason with him and leave but I can tell she gets nowhere with this guy on anything. The wife of the host, our friends, picks up the phone and calls 911 and tells them what is happening and just stares at the guy and says "I am telling you to get out of my house and off my property or I will ask them to come and I will press charges". He flips her off and starts out the door shoving people aside, including his wife. What we didn't know was that was her husband's boss.

Long story short, and this was before the age of enlightenment, he was arrested a month later for battering his wife and daughter when she tried to stop him and he was fired from his job. My wife had told me he was a wife beater and I asked "how do you know that, you just met them"? She replied "by watching his wife watch him" and she was dead on. Freaks are everywhere and come in all colors and sizes.

Note: Rednecks are not defined by what they drive or how they dress or where they live but by how they act and think. Don't want my Texas folks thinking I think they're all necky but the Texas rednecks I have encountered are actually defiant and proud to be so ignorant. And some drive Mercedes and live in million dollar homes.

Banger on, brother. They missed out. Sounds like that guy was the true "freak"

And completely agree re:"redneck" (not that you'd have to explain yourself to me, CC)
