Same here bud, I listen to everything. Metal was my first love and although its still my primary jam, I rock out to all different genres. I had to drag my wife to an Adele concert...shhhhhhhhhhh.
My battle in Iraq was a major metal head. ******* 6'3 and 220 from Lowell Mass, dude was a monster and such a good dude. Turned me on to everything from Megadeath and Shinedown, to Ozzie and Six Feet Under. Everything on Roadrunner Records is fantastic. Trivium, King Diamond. Love it all!

Hahaha...too funny. Beaides the Iraq part it sounds like you could be describing me. About the same height, weigh slightly more, Megadeth was my first favorite metal bamd but was quickly taken over by Pantera. Been to almost every Ozzfest and was rockin’ the pit at a Six Feet Under Concert a couple years ago. The other bands you mentioned are cool as well.

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of melodic metal aka “opera metal”. It’s much bigger in Europe then here so we don’t get as many bands but I was lucky enough to see Nightwish a few months ago. I already posted an Epica video or two in this thread, I’ll try to find some other vids I like.

Pumping me UP!!!! Making me yearn for some Hatebreed or Throwdown! Love the incendiary Thrice-like riffs, Brad

Straight up mashing with the double bass pedal. A must in any metal I listen to! :D
haha...yeah, when I listen to certain metal I’m either working out or drinking, today I’m drinking. When this WC match is over I’ll give you a little sample of the melodic metal. Not nearly as heavy but beautiful in a sense.

Amy Lee on steroids! I like it! Kinda reminds of Switchblade Symphony with a hell of a lot more fire and scream. Paramore on steroids is probly a more apt description. The anthemic parts of their chorus is what reminds me of Lee/Paramore

Love it, Aria

Love the double bass that they use seamlessly

So this is Nightwish, they are probably considered the most prominent melodic metal band and have been around for 20+ years. A lot of the members have changed over time but their are a few originals. I believe they are on their 3rd lead singer, Floor Jansen. Some of these videos will have different singers but they were/are all great for different reasons.

I saw them recently and thought they were fantastic but felt bad. The pace was only half full and in Europe they have a cult following and sell out huge venues. I think they know that though and are just treating us Americans to something special. They also gave out a free double cd of their greatest hits.

*Note* This is NOT their official video (they don’t have one for this song) but the way it was put together is very close to what they showed on the back drop live. It’s an amazing, beautiful and thought provoking song. Be sure to relax and enjoy without distractions, it’s ~25 mins long. PS, unfortunately I can’t but a good “smoke” would be perfect before this song :flagwave:

I’m not sure if they ever officially recorded this but it’s fantastic. Phantom of the Opera.

Just for you J.

This is the lead singer of Epica (Simone Simons) singing with the current lead singer of Nightwish (Floor Jansen). I can’t say I get off on the song itself but it’s really cool to see two of the greatest singers for their respective styles singing together, plus both their voices are amazing and they showcase them here.

This wraps up my melodic metal video post. I’ll post some more surprises tonight then lay off for awhile. Enjoy!

Haha...I have a lot of catching up to do. This used to be one of my favorite threads but I let it go. Screw your rap BS, take this...

She is a special needs student and is singing this with special needs students, both songs are tear jerkers and could make the most hard core rapper or even Glen Benton cry.

A year or two later

PS Thank deity the Angels lost, I had big money on the Dodgers :flagwave:

Bounty Killer from No Doubt collaboration fame? :muttley:

About to throw on that Project Pat, doe, homey

A different sound for Snoop Dogg but I really dig it.

I met Snoop once... about 16 years ago. Randomly, I drove my happy @ to Los Angeles and spent a week there fir bio reason other than I wanted a break from my girlfriend,
I was 27 and good looking. I still am...
I have some fun stories from then.
L.A. is a place where you can run into things you'd never thought you'd see, if you're in the mix long enough.
