I always felt that Pac struggled between crowds. Who to be close with. Sad he chose that thug life and didn't just rep it in his music like Jay Z and others. Same with Biggy. They got in over their heads messing around with real deal fools

I agree with ya 100 esp in regards to Pac. Tupac went to an Arts school in Baltimore as a kid bf moving to Cali and was obviously more articulate and educated than your average person in his circumstances. He was raised to be prideful w his mom's history, but not aggressive or gangster until he became involved with Death Row.

Biggie was a street kid and did time for dealing crack and still had unsettled beefs (you always do in that game; could be someone you robbed in your teens and couldn't pick their face out of a lineup). It's good to see the ones who know how to separate like Jay Z, who had a similar upbringing as Biggie but he even struggled with it earlier in is career; club incident.

Anyways... and how the frig did Puffy get out of it? I mean, he was the brains behind all that beef, right? He knew it was money, that east/west beaf. And he remained unscathed. And I don't hate Diddy, just dumbfounded how he is worth 1B while Van Gogh-level artists in 2Pac and Biggie are gone. Puffy isn't anything special in the rap scene, he wont be remembered for his lyrics. Maybe his production? But more as an entrepreneur, no, Bigs?

It aint right that rap/hip hop uses slang that is "radio unfriendly" while all these other bands can tow the line deftly, using euphemisms that hip hop just don't care about going around

Rap/hip hop is pure poetry, and if they wanted to, they could/and do at times, go around it, but these artists don't.

Curse words are the vernacular of the streets. Let em play it uncensored, Power 106 (a station here in LA)

Someone tell Kendrick Lamar or Kanye to stay radio friendly. Gtho. Pac would've spit out his gin n juice.

I'm a huge 2Pac fan. He was young and definitely got caught up in the wrong crowd. Suge was a shiesty mofo though. It really is a tragedy about 2Pac and Biggie. Our generation was robbed of two of the greatest hip-hop artists there were, imo. Dr Dre was smart. He saw where things were headed and just straight up bounced and went the other way. Was like, "fine, you can have all my music and everything, I'm OUT!"

To spin it in a positive manner though, I think the deaths of 2pac and Biggie opened up some lanes. Do you think Eminem would have really had a chance with those 2 still alive?

 
Man, hip-hop was SO amazing back then. Today? I don't know what happened.

Trouty, for some reason I wasn't a HUGE Jay-Z fan. I didn't mind some of his music, and he had some great albums, but overall he just didn't do it for me. With that said, I have a new respect for him since I saw his interview on David Letterman's new Netflix show. Seems like an alright dood.

I really have enjoyed Jay-Z in guest appearance rolls though. This one for example. I love the line he throws down, "They call me King Hov, copy? Big balling is my hobby! So much so they think I'm down with the Illuminati. haha

I have always loved Jay Z, but I knew a lot of folks out here in Cali that hated him. For me, he was just too good, and when Blueprint dropped, it was like what the mother ******* hell did I just listen to.

It's good!! I think you'll enjoy it.

Also, I honestly really liked the Blueprint Vol. 3. Was incredibly solid.
