Now that we've had some time to get familiar with the new coaching staff, what's your overall grade?

There were a lot of changes this offseason, and I think most of them were long overdue. Personally, I'm much more optimistic about this staff than I ever was about last year's group—or really any Cowboys staff we've had in several years.

I think the defense, in particular, got some major upgrades. On paper, this looks like the best OC/DC pairing Dallas has had in a long time. I haven't been this excited about a Cowboys coaching staff in years. Obviously, they'll have to prove it on the field, but on paper this staff deserves a high grade.

Last years record yelled 41%. That's an F when I was a professor. Given that previous behaviors are good indicators of future behaviors then at this moment, the staff continues at an F.

Plenty of time for the coaches to pull up the grade, but time will tell.

maybe we need to grade on a curve?

i really really like layton and parker. still need to see joe it translates on the field with parker, and not overly impressed or excited with hc. so i went C but hoping for a B

I mean the HC only won 7 games last year so I guess the OP is asking what is the approval rate for all the new hires by the HC?
I'm at TBD until season's end to include the HC, BUT IF they end with 7 games or fewer wins I'm not gonna do the whole "2 year rebuild, or takes time to buy into new system" or any of the other crap excuses.
New England and Seattle did it last year in one year.

Quinn took Nolans crap defense and turned it into a decent to good group in one year's time.

The time is now.
Put up or shut up.
NFCCG or bust.
ALL this freakin hype.
Prove it on the field.
FOR ONCE.
HC last year performance was a C-/D for me.

All I got.

And Zimmer took it right to the bottom over night just as I said he would when Jerry hired that bozo back for another stinkfest on defense.

Seems like a premature thread?
I would like to grade them an A.
But the team has had what, 4 camp days?

Would like to see how they perform when the game plan has to be modified during the game. Adjustments? Or bang their head against the wall?
At some point Parker will be challenged, or Adams wants will be countered. Will Parker adjust coverages, blitz rates? Will Adams blindly run vs a stacked box, or will he call more play action if the defense is biting etc...

I voted C for a pre-preseason opinion. I gotta first see if coaching post-preseason teachings and ability to make solid in-game adjustments is above average, below average, or ends up average. The same goes for the offense, defense and special teams units to be consistently efficient game to game. Hopefully, all four will finish the entire season-regular and postseason (if they earn a berth)-with all A's in my opinion.
