I thought we played pretty good D, we were down to preseason game 4, second half type talent at the corner position and we still held our own. What do u guys think? The defense is actually kind of encouraging to me, as long as we can get all our corners back

I loved what I saw from the D. Jenkins impressed me the little that he was out there. Sean Lee was outstanding as well as Ware. The defense was the most encouraging thing from this game.

Also, we moved the ball pretty damn good vs. a really good defense.

We have a good football team.

Better than expected, some rough patches, hurt by injuries, but played well enough to win. Ryan's blitz packages actually generated pressure tonight, something Wade's never did.

There were a few times the pressure forced Sanchez into making some really off target throws.

It's been a while since I've seen that (1994?)

They are futher along than I saw in the preseason. I thought they stepped it up well tonight. You cant put the loss on them. Im pleased with the progress ive seen so far. prossman

I expected incremental progress as trhe season went on. They played better than I thought.

I think they can play even better next week.

Outside of just a basic rush due to Ware being a freak of nature you're right. It's been a long time since random blitzers were getting free runs at QBs around here. Three times that I remember we ran inside stunts that split the interior linemen and let a fee blitzer through untouched.

Next week we're plaing Alex Smith, I sure hope we don't give up 350 passing yards

Ok, maybe I set the bar a bit low there.

I hope Newman can go, because the words Barry Church/Danny McCray, nickel corner are pretty frightening. (Although I suspect Mario Butler will be active next week.

The one thing I will say in Romo's defense is that if just one of our top three corners was really health all night, he may have never been in position to lose the game. McCann cannot be expected to cover Holmes and Burress.

Looking to the future, I've decided to design my college football viewing based on the top cornerback prospects in next years draft.

Which leads me to this question since you're the resident A&M fan here: What do you think of Coryell Judie's pro prospects? Is he someone we should target next year in the draft?

When McCray got home on the blitz, I almost needed some alone time.

Our corners had better learn how to catch the ball because the way Ryan blitzes, there will be several times during the game where the QB just flings it out there.

I thought we were fantastic.

i think the most impressive part is how we dominated their run game! the jets are supposed to have the best offensive line in football and great RBs and we killed them in that aspect! i really hope we can get at least 2 of our top three corners next week. should be interesting, but i am really liking the rob ryan signing!

With all the injuries, I was impressed. I said before the game that I thought we'd tend to overrate this D a bit after facing a mediocre QB. However, I was impressed with how they gutted it out, even forcing a 50 yard fg attempt after Romo's pick. That's tough to do on the road, after the other team has gained all the momentum. Last year's D would have completely wilted, no doubt.

Do I think they're ready to handle a top QB? No....but I like the direction they're headed and I suspect they'll be a lot more fun to watch than the 2010 version. I hope Rob is here for the long haul because him and Jason will take this team places once they fill a few core positions.

They played much better then I expected. Jenkins looked like he did his first year. Lee looked like a ball hawk. But I still see a lack of pressure outside of ware. And our corners and safeties. Are suspect. Overall. Im happy, but still doubtfull on what they can do.

I was very happy with them, Jets really did not get much going until Jenkins ended up missing some series and scandrick went down.

If you go back to the series in which NY managed to move the ball it was when Jenkins was out of the game.

NY was unable to run and Cowboys defense went out and made plays.

Even on NY last series in the past the Cowboys would fold more times than not yet last night they stopped the Jets and forced them to attempt the 50 yard FG unfortunately Folk hit it but the defense did not let them just move down the field.

They played as good as can be expected all things considered, but I think CB is going to be an issue all season.

The D looked good, but we need to see it against a good offense to really know what we got... Jenkins is a MAN

blitz packages were excellent. I loved the delayed blitzes as well. Sean Lee...BEAST. The Dline/OLBs did better tonight w/ putting consistant pressure on the QB...that helped the weakened 2ndary a lot, but I think some guys were gassed b/c by the 4th the pressure wasn't as strong.

The safeties are better than what was there last year.

The CBs... Just hope that Newman comes back and Jenkins and Scandrick are OK and can stay healthy. I think they still need to address depth at CB. There has to be better depth out there.

I'm excited to see what this defense can do when guys get healthy.
