Does anybody know when the comp picks are announced???

And are these picks determined by a formula or something, or can the league screw us over???

I am so used to getting screwed by the league on game day with officiating, that it wouldnt surprise me one bit if our comp picks turned out to be 6th or 7th rounders.

They are usually announced at the NFL Owner's Meeting in late March.

Late march I believe and I'm pretty sure there is a set formula for what you get depending on the players you lose and what they do for their new teams, the money they sign for, ect.

Wait until Adam comes out with his annual compensatory pick projection post. He's extremely accurate. Based at looking at his past data, I'm projecting Dallas will get a 5th rounder (Reeves) and a 6th rounder (Julius). The pick for Julius may go into the 7th round.

I also think it has something to do with who you sign as well.

So if you lost a former second round pick, but signed one along thew way as well, it would be a wash.

At least I think that's the case. Could be wrong.

Yes I believe that is correct.

Burnett and Canty for sure. Possibly Ellis and Biscuit. Next year could be an even better year, addition by subtraction baby.

You can't get comp picks for releasing a player and then having them get picked up by another team, so Roy would be out (not sure on when Ellis' contract runs out).

Burnett would be a bit of a loss. I don't expect him to get a great payday and playing time may be in doubt. He may be in the 7th round range and Dallas drafted him in the 2nd round. OTOH, Canty was a 4th round pick and should be worth a 3rd round comp pick unless he doesn't get much playing time.
